Just have to hope a GCL job doesn’t open up...

Only 3 jobs in the area make sense over CovCath right now. Moeller, St X, and Colerain. When you take into account the geographical draw CC has, the facilities, the education, and the tradition they have the pieces to be top of the heap for a long time.

Sadly...as much as I hate to say it....the Birds are done. I wanted to believe in the HC...but I no longer do...and I believe he’s lost the confidence of the players. I hope I’m wrong....

LaSalle?

Elder?

Elder?

No. Better than La Salle, but when you take into account resources and competition for players, I put CovCath ahead of them in terms of bang for your buck. Would La Salle beat CovCath annually? I am not sure. Elder would, so I am not talking about better teams per se. I am talking about the opportunity to create a state contender every single year. I don’t feel Elder or La Salle offer that like the other 3 do.

Isnt that a HC's dream? To transition a non-contender into a contender? Isnt that what Eddie did to Cov Cath? Elder has tradition and a lot of kids. Probably would be a lot more money but I'm not sure.

Eddie has a great thing going at CovCath and I am sure he wants to continue that there. Also has a family that I am sure are happy where they are at. I believe at CovCath he will be able to compete just about every year with the GCL.

Being an outsider coaching at Elder would be about as much fun as being an umbrella salesman at a desert kiosk.

Kind of like an outsider coaching at Cov Cath? ... some recent examples come to mind.

I agree it is a big benefit if you are "in the club"? Elder is more extreme than most, but I think it exists at CCH also.

Lot of outsiders at CovCath, Principal, basketball coach and now football coach, if you win it doesn't matter.

It never matters anywhere if you win enough. When you don't win enough, I think things turn south quicker against the outsider.

For instance, see Highlands Football. I can't remember a stretch like this to be honest. I'm kind of a numbers nerd so bare with me here.

Last 3 seasons they have only 14 wins and 19 losses not to mention they have been outscored 1110 to 1011. Not much disparity in avg PPG at 33.6 to 30.6.

Last 2 seasons 6-13 and outscored 733 to 578 an avg of 38.5 PPG to 30.4.

If you look at the run from 2007-2014 the numbers are just sick as far as domination by the Birds.

2007- 15-0 610 pts to 153 opp State Champs

2008- 14-1 653 pts to 187 opp State Champs Only loss to Colerain

2009- 15-0 597 pts to 166 opp State Champs

2010- 14-1 604 pts to 204 opp State Champs only loss Ryle by 2pts

2011- 15-0 849 pts to 191 opp State Champs

2012- 14-1 781 pts to 272 opp State Champs only loss Elder 38-24

2013- 13-2 759 pts to 336 opp State Runner up only losses Elder 30-27 and Collins 37-34.

2014- 13-2 611 pts to 312 opp State Champs BO era comes to an end.

Totals - 113 wins vs 7 losses. 5464 points 45.5 ppg avg vs 1801 15 ppg avg

That unprecedented run may never be seen again.

I know no one wants to hear this and I am not being a jerk by saying this. I don't think Dale would have done much different the last few years accept maybe won a few more games but he wasn't going to win a state title. It boils down to talent and I am sure we can all agree that you have to have talent. When Highlands was making that run they had a boat load of talent. I am not saying he was a good coach because he was and he knew how to coach that talent. Give the current coach that talent and I believe he wins as well.

What was Dale Mueller's worst year or worst two years as Highlands coach?

I don't think they would've had undefeated seasons or even state championship runs but I do think they may have won more than they have lost. 6-13 over the past 1 3/4 seasons is something Dale Mueller would not be dealing with. JMO
