Don't see how. He committed the act from a secure room with more firepower than security would have and he was expecting to die. How does that deter this event?

 

Armed personnel in the hotel lobby and hallways may have deterred him, maybe not, we will never know, just asking the question.

I wonder if having openly armed personnel in the hotel would have deterred this or not.

 

Doubtful. If the stories are true he had a camera set up to see when anyone was approaching his room. Hotel security did so and were fired upon from the other side of the door and a security guard was wounded. Hence what led to the police using an explosive device to breach the door. He had an assortment of automatic rifles it appears, an armed security guard doesn't want to walk through that door.

He was in the hotel room since Thursday. Easy to come and go from the garage to the room without raising any suspicions about what he is carrying in.

Doesn't fit the profile in any way shape or form. Just weird.

 

Just doesn’t seem to add up...

I was at a concert where the killings took place about 10 months ago. I remember just looking at Mandalay Bay while there and wondering who was looking out their window watching also.

He was willing to trade his life to do this and the plan and money to pull it off, wasn't going to be stopped. Sad

He was more well armed than they would have been regardless.. He didn't walk in with guns on his hips, they were hidden in suitcases. What could armed security have done at that point? They never even knew he was carrying guns in....

Does anybody have any info regarding the legality of the weapons used? It seems some may have been illegal under the automatic rifle ban. Here is one article. Please post more.

I read somewhere that the shooter had remote fire weapons in the hotel room. Wow if true!

Senseless, horrific, and I've been numb for a good portion of the day. More so by how quickly this was politicized.

Heard an interesting theory today from a friend in Vegas questioning if he acted alone (two windows broken out, two "shooting stations"), or if he was even the shooter; or merely forced to rent the room, etc. and then killed by the real perpetrators to make it appear he was a lone, crazed gunman who shot himself as police closed in while they snuck off? Guessing this would be fairly easy to confirm via surveillance cameras of the hallway, etc.from the last few days; or if they can come up with a real motive? Also heard he was deep in debt to a couple of casinos ($ 1-2 million+)?
