Mass Shooting in Las Vegas

Said he used a bump stock to convert them to fully auto. Had my doubts so I googled bump stocks and sure enough it looks like they work.

They work great in the promo videos, not so well in reality. I had a friend that bought one and it was very hard to fire in a way that resembles automatic fire like heard on the video. He removed his after a couple of months and trashed it.

I dont know of anyone either. I have some semi-automatic that fire as fast as I can pull the trigger. Friends told me its prison if you change it to auto.

Also you can get on you-tube to be shown how to change it over. Maybe the internet police should block that.

Supposed to be mandatory Federal time to alter a gun to fire full auto, 20 years I believe.

Bump stocks do not convert to fully auto. They are legal because it is still one pull, one fire. They make it easier to fire faster but no where near fully auto. They are also notoriously crap. They jam a lot and are not very smooth. You can modify a semi auto with some tools and different parts, but that makes it highly illegal.

The only full automatic weapons available to be bought are pre-1986. I read there are something like 200,000 out there. There is a federal license you have to apply for with an extensive background check (a year or so) and pay an expensive fee for the license. And every gun is registered and has to be kept track of. They also range in price from $10k to $50k if you can even find them. So there are not a lot of full automatic rifles out there legally.

Reports say he modified the semis to make them fully automatic. Fully automatic weapons have been banned in the U.S. since I think 1986.

Actually I think the ban dates back to the 30's during the Great Gangsters era.

You are both correct. Up until the 30's anyone could own a full auto gun, heck I think you could order them from Sears and Roebuck. Beginning in 1934 all full auto guns had to be registered with the ATF and you had to pay a $200 one time fee. Then in the 1980's the law passed that ban any full auto firearms to be manufactured or imported for sale in the US that were made after that year. All legal full autos in the US were manufactured prior to 1986 and are very expensive, $10,000 is kind of the low end of the price range for them up to $100,000 or so.

There are newer full auto and three round burst weapons in the us manufactured after 1986, they are for Law Enforcement use only. Those can not be transferred or sold to individuals. You may see some of the newer ones at gun stores, those are demo models for sale to LE only.

I love being at least partially right. :thumb::lol2:

That being said, I can't think of one reason why anyone would need to possess a bump stock.

I would say anyone that has searched something like that on youtube is already red flagged and being watched.

Oh, I believe you will find out shortly.

I would say anyone that has searched something like that on youtube is already red flagged and being watched.

Well, their watch list just got HUGE because I guarantee there are people all over the country searching for things they have heard about as a result of this shooting.

Why did the shooter wire $100,000 to the Philippines last month?

Why did the shooter wire $100,000 to the Philippines last month?

For his lady friend?

:madman:

Is there a source for that?

:madman:

Is there a source for that?

Yeah let me find it. I think it was from NBC news

:madman:

Is there a source for that?

They just said the same thing on Fox News.
