Mass Shooting in Las Vegas

Featured Replies

The conversion stuff gets way more credit than what is found in the field.

Can a semi be converted - yes. Is it useful if its not belt-fed? Probably not.

Here is a fairly detailed analysis of what the weapon used was by a former marine.

What Guns Were Used in Las Vegas Shooting? - The Red Elephants

That is why if I had to take a wild swing at what weapon was used I would guess it was a M240 Bravo or similar weapon system. They are ready to except tri-pods, which the police stated they found in his multiple weapons he had. They are out there on the black market from military parts that disappear or “break”. The ammo it shoots is the 7.62×51 NATO and it uses metal linked belts. The cyclic rate of fire is around 650-700 rounds per minute (although it can be adjusted higher it typically wont for controllability and ammo conservation). To finish up, here is the comparison.

So this is my best guess as to what was used. Ultimately, don’t believe the sensationalism that is already coming out about the need for gun control. None of the proposed firearm legislation could have prevented this. Stephen Paddock had no criminal history according to main stream outlets, and a relative, Eric Paddock (Brother), said “He was not an avid gun guy at all”. This all points out to help from larger organizations such as ISIS or other conspiracy theories (conspiracy simply means more than one person plan together. Root word conspire; P.S. they’re making the frogs gay.)

99% of our soldiers use weapons that aren't belt feed. How would it be useless here?

As nasty as full auto seem with their 600 to 800 rounds per minute rate, their main use is suppression in combat situations where the other side wants to fire back. True full auto mode has few uses outside of combat...or mass carnage in very crowded area.

Something I was thinking last night.....Based on his position, the type of weaponry and ammo he had, and the layout of the concert venue, am I the only one that kinda thinks it's fortunate that only 59 people were killed?

I believe 58 victims died, plus the coward making 59 according to the last number i heard. And yes. Considering people didnt know where the shots were coming from and laid down, it's amazing more didnt die.

That's why I think he went with modifying 10 rifles. It doesn't appear he was a marksman. His aim was to get as many rounds out there as he could to inflict the greatest damage his skill set could provide.

I'm a little curious out of the 500+ that were declared injured, how many were from a bullet vs. trampling or someone tripping and scraping up their legs in the hysteria.

I asked that question earlier. Read my story from post 146. I think the number could be rather high if the story I heard was true and happened in a lot of casinos that number could be very high.

I’m waiting to hear how many rounds were actually fired. No count has been issued yet.

Death toll is now at 60 with many more still in critical condition.

I imagine that will take a while to compile wouldn't it?

One would think it is a simple process of counting the spent rounds on the floor of the room, but I’m sure they can’t disturb the crime scene just yet.

Paddock'''s Girlfriend Used Two Social Security Numbers and Was Married to Two Men at the Same Time

Marilou Danley, the live-in girlfriend of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock, and now a "person of interest" in the shooting investigation, is a Philippines native who has used two Social Security numbers during her two-plus decades in the United States, and was married to two men at the same time, public records show.

The person who may hold the key to solving the mystery of why the Vegas gunman killed 59 and wounded nearly 600 people led a convoluted life of her own, with two simultaneous husbands, a bankruptcy, two Social Security numbers, multiple addresses in several states and even different ages depending on which state records you review.

The details are part of a Newsweek investigation into Danley's past, which takes on a new urgency now that the FBI is frantically working to bring her "immediately" back from overseas for more information about the shooting and the $100,000 Paddock wired to her family there days before the shooting.

I read that one of the main guns used was a AK-47 type gun (I'm guessing it was illegally modified to full auto) that was mounted to a tripod.

I think I've seen that before:

Well, they've got her in custody now so I hope some more clarity to the picture takes place.

That didn't answer my question. You said anything not belt feed would be useless in this situation. That just simply isn't true. Yes, he would have to reload more but it would be far from useless.

Baristas at Las Vegas shooter’s local Starbucks remember him for berating girlfriend | KFOR.com

LAS VEGAS – Workers at Stephen Paddock's local Starbucks immediately remembered the tall man with a big beer belly and bags under his eyes who used to come in with his girlfriend, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Baristas told the paper they would wince when Paddock came in with Marilou Danley, because he regularly belittled and berated her in front of customers and staff.

“It happened a lot,” Starbucks Supervisor Esperanza Mendoza told the Times.

Mendoza said they always ordered the same drinks – a venti mocha cappuccino for him and a medium caramel macchiato for her.

Mendoza said Paddock would lay into the much smaller Danley when she asked about using his casino card, which had credits from gambling that could be used to pay for things inside the casino.

“He would glare down at her and say — with a mean attitude — ‘You don’t need my casino card for this,'" Mendoza told the Times. "'I’m paying for your drink, just like I’m paying for you.’"
