October 4, 20178 yr One thing I would like to see in these mass shooting cases is the media use the shooter's name as little as possible. Once he is initially identified, I would like to see the person referred to as the shooter or some other name after the initial articles. I don't want people getting publicity off of these acts. Use the shooter's name as little as possible. If you're dead, how does the publicity help you any at all? I don't care about the person's name after something like this, I'm more concerned whether they are still stealing oxygen from the rest of the world.
October 4, 20178 yr Don't hold me to it, I'd have to go back and research to be sure but I think the press conference from the police yesterday afternoon said that 10 or so were modified with bump stocks. They didn't comment on how many were used. NBC news just said 12 were modified with Bump Stocks of those recovered in the room.

I have my doubts on how reliable bump stocks are and whether they would be capable at the consistent rate of fire that was heard in the videos. That said, I haven't researched bump stocks in a couple of years, but from what I learned back then unless you had a really high end rifle (in terms of the upper/lower receiver, slide, as well as a barrel that can handle a lot of heat) they were essentially garbage. He did have high end rifles it appears including some made by Daniel Defense, so it's possible the bump stocks worked as advertised on what he was using.
October 5, 20178 yr I don't think he got off that many either, my point was it didn't take any one with advanced training to hit 600 people in a crowd of 22,000. If it was AK rounds as some have said, he easily could have gotten several 2 for 1 shots. JD, I haven't been able to follow the news conferences consistently. Have they released a number of wounded from gun fire?

October 5, 20178 yr The leaked photos from the room are highly disturbing. Not just his face blown off, but the stacks and stacks of ammo just pulled up waiting to be shot into the crowd. Guns everywhere!! Where can I see these photos?
October 5, 20178 yr The sheriff, if i heard correctly, just said he believed the shooter did not want to necessarily end this in suicide and that he had an escape plan. Ill have to listen again to make sure thats what he said thigh, as it was live.

Also in tonight's press conference the sheriff mentioned that there were several guns that were jammed. It just turns out that Paddock planned this out well enough to know that the jams may happen, hence the abundance of firearms he brought with him. It relates to my theory that the bump stocks are garbage, however if you have 10-12 weapons at your disposal, garbage or not the bump stock is going to increase the number of of dead/wounded.

He didn't dismiss that there was a note however, he answered that with "I don't recall." Which tells me that there likely was a note left by the shooter and it's something that they can't/shouldn't share at the moment.
