Actually it was broader. Working on the resolution to that is how I landed here.

I do too. I said last year that this was a tough opening game and I was concerned with the experience CCH had coming back. Knew you guys were going to be tough. We were not ready. Be a better game if we could play now but no do-overs. Took our lumps and learned about us. We are a better team for the loss. You guys have a good shot at a really nice run this year.

 

If I were Ryle or any other NKY 6A team I am begging for CovCath to be good every year and to play them every year so that I could judge my team before I run up against a Louisville power in the playoffs and get beat by 40.

 

Maybe by playing CovCath and getting beat I could focus on what needs to happen the rest of the year. Is my offense unbalanced? Could I not stop the run? Do I need to platoon more because we got worn down? Better to lose to them 42-14 than to beat them 35-14 and think wow we will just roll thru 6A this year.

My feelings exactly. As I may have said before, scheduling way down gains you nothing in the long run.

Yep...lost 14-13. I believe that was in the first and only "Ryle Kickoff Classic" bowl. Ryle played Whitley County that day as well.

 

Neither here nor there, but they hosted another one-and-done bowl at Ryle in 1999 when Ryle played Belfry.

I don't want to make this thread about Simon Kenton, but I think the Neers would do just the opposite, they would run away from scheduling a stronger CCH team.

Man SK is not as good as Cov Cath. There is a reason Cov Cath has several guys who will have there full college paid for by playing football, and SK will most likely not have any. That is not to bash SK, it's just reality. SK would have very few starters start at Cov Cath. I mean when you have big time 6'5" athletes at wide receiver and a D1 QB, that's just hard to stop at the High school level.

For what's it worth, CovCath's Middle School team won it's first GCYL football championship over the weekend:

 

CYF wins first GCYL championship as 7th/8th grade team wins 22-12 at LaSalle high school!

 

Congrats to head coach Scott Silbernagel who has had his team in the championship two of the last three years. Even though Silbernagel is an Elder grad, he's a good guy.

I'm pulling for CCH and all NKY teams to do well in the playoffs but am I missing something? Up until recently please help me out with the accomplishments of what CCH has done that would strike fear in any NKY team wanting to play them? Is this question being asked as a projection? Are their JV and Freshman teams head and shoulders dominant above all other NKY teams? Those questions are not degrading or anything and I applaud what Coach E. is doing but just simply asking fair questions because these things sometimes have a way of being cyclical.

You are correct. A great season last year and fantastic season so far this year but the title question is premature IMO.

That may be true this year, but over the last decade, SK has been BY FAR the most consistent winner in NKy and better than Cov Cath most years.

 

Furthermore, BW and Cov Cath both are benefitting from substandard football programs in Boone County. Take that player migration away, and both programs come back to earth!
