Maybe. They gave up a 70 yard run and catch to a guy that runs a 4.7 40 week 1 and no one was close to catching him. They haven't really played anyone with a ton of speed. They may blow out their next two opponents and change my mind.

 

Also, you guys need to relax. I said they're the second best team in 5A and don't have a ton of team speed. They got run out of the playoffs last year by a team they couldn't keep up with athletically. It's a long season and we'll see what happens.

I punched in the top teams in the state and Trinity is the only one projected to beat Covington Catholic. CCH wins over Male, St. X, Scott County, BG ... is there anyone else in the state that might be better?

Cov Cath is still slow and lacks dynamic athletes on offense. They have a great QB. They won't beat BG, but are a Top 5-7 team in the state.

 

Lacks dynamic athletes on offense? How about two 6'4 receivers and a 6'5 D1 TE in the receiving core. Throw in a track guy at RB...and a D1 QB. Not sure if you saw the program guide.

So why play the rest of the season then? Seems like Cal Preps already has everything decided for us.

 

Or, we could just not play the rest of the year and let you decide how it goes.

Those aren't my rankings. I am just feeding the teams into the best computer ranking system out there and that is what it comes up with.

They have a legit D-I QB - that's a great place to start on offense.

 

They have a D-I linebacker - that's a great place to start on defense.

 

They are very good up front on both sides of the ball.

 

They can run and pass - and defend the run and pass.

 

They are legitimate state championship favorites.

 

If they didn't have "Cov Cath" on their uniforms there wouldn't be so many questions. The fact base is pretty clear, but people don't seem to want to believe.

You are right. The JV was in. They will work on run defense.

I personally despise CovCath and everything it stands for except Catholicism but I will own up to it. They are the best in NKY, best in 5A in the state, and a top 5 team overall. I think TU beats them easily and Scott County who just made a mockery of Highlands handles them. St.X would be about a pickem. Male beats them in a close one with speed. CovCath squeaks by SK by a TD or less.

Got to stop the Williams kid next week. Big test for the Colonel D that has looked great so far

Wait, what? You're pulling the if it didn't say Covcath card as the reason people may have questions. I didn't realize so many people looked so down on Covcath, like you seem to be implying. It seems like most recognize Covcath as the top nky team and serious contender for a state title. So I'm not sure what your if it didn't say Covcath comment was about.

 

Covcath is a great team. I think they will make state. The questions asked are fair though and would be said for any team in 5a. At the end of the day, Bowling Green still rules 5a until proven otherwise. Even though BG may not be dominant like the past. Their losses also came against better teams than anyone Covcath has played so far. So there is nothing wrong with people asking questions. In fact that's a good thing because shows how good you are if people are asking questions now in regards to state title good. Covcath definitely has a nice mix of everything this year, and has a legit shot.
