This senior class deserved a better outcome than what they got tonight.

Nope. Nobody DESERVES anything in life or basketball.

What would we do without you, Clyde. Good explaination. I'm not going to buy in to the "that's not his call" saying. If it doesn't get called Mason County wins the region on a missed walk call and there's a lot of upset GRC fans.

Yep.

Also, Congrats to Coach Graham of GRC. I am older than most, so I remember when he was an absolute beast of a player for Fleming County back in the day. Could not be stopped ... except by an official in the 1987 10th Region Tournament against and at ... you guessed it ... Mason County! Karma always has a way of evening up the score.

Thrilled for Elizabeth as the only GRC senior honored, but there are two seniors on GRC's team.

Which official called the walk the one out front in front of the Mason bench.(if so he would have had the best look) the baseline official was on the right side pretty far out towards the right corner. (if the ref at half court on the opposite side called the walk) then I can see how people would be upset. Even if she did walk they is no way that official could have seen it well enough to call it. imo

This is the best post in regards to a call that will be debated for a long time. The guy at mid court went on the reaction and noise from GRC fans and made the call. Watch the traffic in the paint, no way he sees the controversial play! No way- heck I can't make a 100 percent acurate call on the video!

I will stick by my earlier post, no way the official the furthest away at mid court should make that call- no way! There is no way that can accurately be disputed! He made the game more about him than what it's supposed to be about- the kids! Best of luck to the 10th next week!

On the other hand, a basketball game NEVER comes down to one call. This last call might be the one you remember, but did it really cost anyone the game???

Did Mason miss any free throws in the game? Were there any calls that went masons way during the game? Did mason have any breakdowns in the game that gave grc and easy basket? Did Mason miss any gimme shots? Did mason get out hustled on any rebounds? Did mason have any turnovers that were converted into point for grc? People want to point at one call at the end, but my guess if you look back at the game there were many many things that could have made a difference in the game. I tell my teams, look in the mirror before you start blaming officials. You control your destiny.

Been around the game for a long time. Worst fans in Kentucky. Mason County. Whiny, spoiled. The travel call was the right call. The video that has the best angle is easy to see it was a walk. Now give credit where its due. GRC is the 10th region champs.

I've never disagreed with a post more, Mason County has had its ups and downs in both boys and girls basketball, the highs are just higher than almost everyone elses. The boys team lost to Augusta in the first round of districts two years in a row, then in the district finals last year to them as well, 2015 was the first girls Regional Championship since the 1980s so IMO they're far from spoiled, especially on the girls side. I can see it with the boys, but they've only had 1 Regional Championship in 7 years and to me thats underachieving for the talent they've had.

Back to the game, I've watched about 20 different videos, including one I took myself, and I do believe it was a walk, but I also agree one of the other two officials should have made the call instead of the one that was 35 feet from the play, but I guess all that matters was that it was the correct call. Mason Co had chances to put this game away and just simply didn't do it, AJ Reed had a lay-up opportunity that would have put them up by 4 with under a minute to go and got knocked on the top of the head (no foul was called) and lost the ball out of bounds to GRC, they also missed several open 3's that would've put it away also. I knew once Igo made the 3 in OT that it wasn't looking good.

I do want to give major props to Coach Brad Cox, I thought he coached a great game and made substitutions/adjustments at great times, people have criticized him beyond belief but all in all I think he's done a great job with a 50-13 record in his first two seasons as a varsity head coach.

Best of luck to the MCHS Seniors in their future endeavors, you guys built a program at MCHS and have given us as fans many great memories, you guys won and lost with class and represented Mason County the right way.

I didn't see a walk. I saw a run.

Correct call.

I was logging on to blast the refs but after seeing the angle from the other side of the court...I think she probably took 3 steps

Seems like some posters think Lady Royals got cheated, but in the same breath are saying it shouldn't have been called which means GRC would get cheated. We should be praising the ref for making right call and letting players decide in OT.

Only a fan would argue "yes he got it right but he shouldn't have called it."

You are incorrect on what you think he can see from that vantage point.

I'll take my homegrown girls who who have been in Maysville their entire life over the other situation any day! But as I said goodluck.

Has Mason Co(boys or girls) ever benefited from students/players) that hasn't been in Maysville all their life?

Suppose there was no travel called and the Mason player got absolutely hammered on the shot causing her to miss the shot, would the Mason fan base been ok from "that official" refraining from making the call? Or would they have been glad that any of the 3 made the call?

100% the correct call. Great win for GRC. Tough out for Mason co.

I am impressed the official made the correct call and I applaud him for doing so and letting the players decide on the floor.
