100% neutral viewer of the films. Initially was convinced she walked from viewing the previous films from same side that the referee made the call. Watched Steve Harvey's film 20 times where I could see her foot position when receiving the ball. No question in my mind.....no walk, basket good, Mason wins. Thus we see the dangers of an official making an out of area call with three defender bodies and six feet on the ground between his view and the violation he saw decisively.

1) It was a walk. Evan Dennison's Twitter vid doesn't appear to be, but the opposite side is a fairly clear vid.

 

2) This is not in Trail's primary area, however....in this game, at this time, with this on the line, if you peeked, you better blow the whistle...

 

3) If the Lead official was the same one from Friday night, I suspect that strength of partner / crew strength could be a factor and the Trail official may have felt he needed to jump this call.

 

4) Attached for reference, Primary Coverage Areas....

This was a good Region, very competitive...if you let the last call of regulation be what decides your season, it's not an officiating issue...If you don't win it in the next 4 minutes, it's still not an officiating issue. Mason has a great team of great competitors with lots of great people around them. Great season, just a little short.

I do know that 1st half Mason had more points from the free throw line than they did the field. Can't win games that way.

Travel is really simple rule. If you lift your pivot foot and then put it back on the floor before passing or shooting the ball it's a violation.

I can't believe I come back to this thread a couple days after the fact and people are still questioning the call... it was a walk on Saturday evening and it's still a walk on Monday evening.

The rule is ALWAYS true. This was an easy call to make.

The lead official was the one standing in front of Mason's bench, who had the best view, and made no call. No reason for the trail official to jump on the call.
