100% the correct call. Great win for GRC. Tough out for Mason co.

I am impressed the official made the correct call and I applaud him for doing so and letting the players decide on the floor.

Agree. Both teams had the over time to win the game. GRC made the plays, especially Igo 3 to start the OT. Mason missed shots and put backs can't win a game that way. Mason had more points from the FT line than they did from the field first half.

Has Mason Co(boys or girls) ever benefited from students/players) that hasn't been in Maysville all their life?

Treg Setty came to Mason County his 2nd grade year from Pebles, OH because his mother got a teaching job at Straub Elementary. So unless they knew that he, Darius, and everyone else were gonna be State Champions in the 2nd grade, then yes all of Mason County's teams are home grown. Which to me is pretty impressive.

Mason Co administration gets a call from Kennedy Igos or any other players parents. We are moving to Maysville. Can our daughter, pending approval from KHSAA, join the Lady Royals?

Do they say no, she hasn't been in Maysville all her life?

Ethan King?

Absolutely not!

So you're absolutely sure there are no others?

So you're absolutely sure there are no others?

Ethan King played on a state championship team at MC and has never lived in Maysville

Pretty sure his mother was also an employee at MCHS, I never lived in Mason County either, but I did go to school there because my mother was an employee.

So you're absolutely sure there are no others?

Phil Barner is the only other person I could think of, but it wasn't recruitment, he came to Maysville to live with one of his parents. He got very few minutes of PT also, so yes I'm absolutely sure.

Not the entire time he was there she wasn't.

Are you implying Igo was recruited?

And because Barner didn't get much PT it was ok?

Suppose there was no travel called and the Mason player got absolutely hammered on the shot causing her to miss the shot, would the Mason fan base been ok from "that official" refraining from making the call? Or would they have been glad that any of the 3 made the call?

Very good point!

Are they all seniors?

Nope.

The schools that have had, promoted, and the parents that have initiated the transfer of a student for the sole purpose of establishing a better HS Girls basketball team is missing the point because in the very end it doesn't matter - there is no gold at the end of the rainbow and so you win a 10Th region or 9th region championship.... does it really matter, was it really worth it... who will even remember or care a year from now

Hats off to the schools that don't perpetuate the activity and even more hats off to the parents that do not.... that's not what high school sports were meant to be...

Not the way it was back in the day of Milan Indiana and the Hoosiers story - the real genuine days of HS basketball....

I respect the schools who have players that grow up and play in the small communities where they live... its the real spirit of HS sports.

I mean 3 people coming to the same school for the same sport...? If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.
