I wonder if Keith Bogans and his teammates from 2003 would have liked a few more hostile crowd challenges given what they faced in Minneapolis that year. But there's no benefit to playing tough games at tough places …

Although let's be fair - you don't expect to essentially play two road games in the region semis and region finals of a tournament in which you are the overall #1 seed.

Many more thousands of fans (I can't say 24K because I'm sure they all didn't chant) chanted "Walsh is gay" in Rupp and Florida still comes back.

 

I don't think that they really have a choice.

So why isn't Louisville going to Bloomington. Cards fans on here chiming in is hilarious when your school is not going there either probably for the same reason.

Except they are playing in Bloomington during the deal... First one (this year) is neutral at Banker's Life in Indianapolis. Next year is in Louisville and in 2018 in Bloomington.

I'd say Keith Bogans would rather have had a healthy ankle than a couple more road games. UK played at #12 UNC, UL, #3 Florida, #15 Alabama, #21 Georgia and IU in Indianapolis. Their schedule wasn't the problem.

Both sides are at fault. UK/Cal probably more so than IU, but to me it doesn't seem either side is that interested in making it happen, or it would have.

 

From recollection, the UK/IU home and home series were relatively new. I always remember the games being in Indianapolis and Louisivlle, not Bloomington and Lexington. The Assembly-Rupp games started when, mid-to-late 2000s and happened for 6 years?

 

Never is a long time, so at some point in the future they will again renew a series.

 

Besides conference challenge games or in-state/cross-state rivalries, how many power conference home and homes out there anymore? I can't think more than a handful. I know UK and UCLA have the past two years (is this one continuing, btw?).

 

Looking further back, the series really began in the early 70's. It was Bloomington - Louisville until 1978 Season. Then it went Bloomington-Lexington until the Indy-Louisville series began. I seem to recall it went back to home and home just before Cal maybe.

Yes it is that you care so much about who the Cats play and don't play. Bottom line is year in and year out they have one of the toughest non conference schedules in the country and will always have the luxury of doing what is best for the program

To me, it is more about preparing his teams for March and April than it is worrying about opposing fans being mean.

 

Florida is an SEC opponent and have to play home and home.

 

I think Cal would love to dump SC after the 2010 game there but he can't.
