I know they have to play. The point is, our Kentucky fans are not above acting like total idiots towards an opponent.

Cal is why they didn't play Carolina last year but he got his wish with a neutral site this year. However, next year, its back in Chapel Hill

If I'm Tom crean and I've beat Kentucky two out of our last 3 games we've played. I'd hold out too.

I think the real culprit is the court storming and mob mentality that was the real issue, IMO. Like I said about Columbia, when the court storm appears to be mob like, any coach thinks twice about having to do that again.

Looking further back, the series really began in the early 70's. It was Bloomington - Louisville until 1978 Season. Then it went Bloomington-Lexington until the Indy-Louisville series began. I seem to recall it went back to home and home just before Cal maybe.

Looks like the true home and homes started in '05 and went for 6 years. The previous 14 years switched between Louisville and Indy. Even had UK won the buzzer beater game, it wouldn't have shocked me to see the series end since coaches have little desire to play these games, for better or worse.

Yes it is that you care so much about who the Cats play and don't play. Bottom line is year in and year out they have one of the toughest non conference schedules in the country and will always have the luxury of doing what is best for the program

Why do you care what excuse is given? Why do you even care if where they play who? I'm a huge UK fan and I really don't care who they play or where. I trust Cal will do what's best for the team to prepare them for March. I think his formula is working pretty good.

I care enough to be interested if something was to happen, like the stripper deal. I'm just not going to get worked up about what their fans think. I sure as heck don't care what a teams schedule is. Yes the UK / IU series was fun because I have a lot of friends that are IU fans. But if they never play again oh well.

I never said you couldn't or shouldn't have an opinion. I just simply asked why you care about it so much. You say UK fans are giving bogus excuses but unless their name is John Calipari their excuse is simply a guess, same as yours. The difference is you think your reason is the only truth. The difference is the excuse you call bogus has evidence to back it up.

 

Fact - IU fans acted like complete jack wagons after that win

Fact - UK plays the best programs in the country at their home gym every year (Kansas, UNC, UCLA, UofL)

Fact - Playing big games in large neutral site arenas is a better way to prepare your team for the tournament in March

I'm not sure there's a single reason why this ended.

 

It can't just be that they lost in 2012, or else UK would have stopped the home & home with North Carolina after the Brandon Knight team lost to them. I don't think losing helped, but I think if Watford clanks that last 3, Cal still doesn't go back. I can never know that for sure, but that's what I think.

 

I do think there's something to what Wireman is saying about the crowd, and while I think it's a little weak of Calipari, it has something to do with it. I remember the court storming that day being dangerous because either Lamb or Miller was on the ground when the students mobbed the playing floor. But when you're UK, you have to expect that kind of thing on the road. I suspect it could be worse in conference play while Brad is on the roster.

 

I also think Calipari and Crean have soured on each other after having been friends for so long, so that has probably played into it also.

 

If I had to guess the primary reason, it's Calipari's scheduling philosophy. It's evident he prefers neutral court games that are marquee matchups. That's why we have the Champions Classic and that's why we have whatever the thing is called where we played Ohio State last year and North Carolina in Vegas this year & UCLA on a neutral floor next year. It's why he doesn't do 3-day tournaments like Maui, which frustrates me much more than not doing home & homes.

 

So I really think it's a lot of little things that have added up and not just one or two things.

IU fans can be the worst. I wen't to college in Indiana and therefore several of my fraternity brothers are big IU fans. I've been tagged on Facebook in a post with the Wadford shoot more times than I can count. Some of them seem to get more joy out of a UK loss than when IU wins. I guess not winning a title for 30 years will make you crazy.
