You need to detect sarcasm. I don't pay for parking at any other high school game. At every other high school game, I pay $1-2 for soda and $2 for hot dogs and popcorn.

 

You most likely have to pay for parking at the Sweet Sixteen and you have to pay for every session there. 10 bucks to park for 8 sessions equals 80 bucks to park.

I was thinking that UK said they will be bidding on the games. Works for me. 45 minutes from my house but I probably still won't go to many of the games. Travel never stops me if I want to really go.

Also, if the games are at Commonwealth you will still pay for parking and concessions will still be outrageous. The venue won't change those facts.

There were blow outs when there were less classes, sometimes there is just a dominant team in a class and it doesn't matter what you do there will be blow outs.

Haven't seen this discussed in any other threads yet but the accommodations for the teams are the biggest joke. I talked to someone at Beechwood and they were forced to get dressed in baseball batting cages, outside of the football stadium. They didn't have any running water or toilets. I was told players were literally going to the bathroom in bushes outside of the hitting facility. Hazard was also forced to leave the stadium and walk to the basketball arena to get dressed.

 

These kids work their tails off for 6 months in order to reach the state finals and how are they rewarded? The reward is a batting cage.

 

IMO, that ruins the experience for kids. If these are the accommodations the kids get, then something needs to change.

The problems that are being complained about (blowouts, prices for parking and concessions) are not unique to Kentucky.

Why pay when you can. Pay $10 and watch all games from your couch? Unless your team is in it not many casual fans going regardless of what facility hosts. To my knowledge I never paid to park in Louisville. I like the setting at Western, totally superior to Papa John's and Commonwealth.

The numbers of fans at the games show that high school games do not have to be played at a big college stadium. Bring the games back to high school stadiums along with the price of the ticket,parking and concessions. Watch the numbers go back up.

I disagree. Both my boys played in the state football finals. Part of the reward was the thrill of playing in a big stadium. I like attending in a college stadium as well. I don't know what the answer is. Maybe if it wasn't available for 9.99 in the comfort of home more would come.

What was the viewership? Fans willl travel to see their teams. I think the streaming only allows for more to watch. I'm guessing if you add up attendance and viewership those kids played in front of a lot more folks than they normal would have.

But it will be at UK so 99% of the fans won't care. If UK gouges them that's fine, anyone else not so much. And we'll go back to the days of the games feeling like you're playing in front of empty seats because you will be.

I know all of the "Work harder" comments are mostly all TIC, but some teams are just better. That's what bothers me about people not being able to accept.
