For the next 3-6 years, yes. I'd be surprised if they lost more than 10 games over the next 6 years. When those losses happen I want to see who defeats them and how.

No Jail Bird, some teams had rather be considered the 33 or so best team in the state, or the 70 some odd team in the state, or the 111th or so, or about the 150th best, or the 190th best or maybe even be happy as better than 31 others or so. As long as they can claim state titles in such a class all is well. Let's not worry about the teams that get dominated year in and year out in these classes while others continue their domination and build bigger trophy cases. Not saying all of the state title winners fit this category, but some most definitely do. These are the teams that should play up a class, and allow teams that are constantly dominated see if they can compete in a lower class.

So 6A teams that can't hang should be allowed to play down? Same for 5A, 4A and 3A teams? The teams that are currently dominating should play up? Is that what you are saying?

I'm glad that people are getting a "kick" out of the work harder thing. Kind of made me laugh too. All of a sudden people are experts on Highlands football, you know, the people that have not attended a game, or even been to a Highlands practice.

 

I'm not sure about this, but I would say Highlands has more state titles playing up a class than most 4A or 5A teams have state titles appearances, period.

 

How many times has your team won a state title while playing up a class, or even played up a class at all? I'm not talking about the one or two out of state games that some programs play. Obviously, I'm not talking about KY 6A.

 

You are probably right. Highlands is at worst the second best program in the history of the state and one of nation's best programs as well. All programs can't be Highlands but all programs have those aspirations. At the same time when "working harder" is no longer working then you should expect folks who have been around BGP long enough to know how those "work harder" comments originated to offer up the same advice for everyone else in the state.

There are a lot of us around. The rest are trying to fill out the schedule and are "working harder" as that is the key to success, as you all know. Hopefully the Birds will find an Ohio power to sharpen their beaks on, before heading into the playoffs. I'm positive that you will see the Birds in WKU sooner than later. BG is going to be pretty good for a while. They are on a great run with a lot of talent coming up and one of the best coaching staffs in the state. I'm sure you know what kind of results those two combinations bring.

That is true. I'll never forget it. I promise. :lol2: I do hope to see BG/Highlands play again one day. It would be a great game and it would be good to catch up with old Bluebird pals and meet some new ones.

No offense, but I don't think Highlands would have made it to BG this year even if they were in 4A since Johnson Central was in the Eastern bracket. Though, I am curious about how far they would've gone. Where would Highlands have been in the bracket if they were still in 4A?

Yep, they told me it would be $12 for a Pepsi and a Diet Pepsi. I laughed and went to the lemonade stand. They need to realize that high school games have high school fans and adjust the prices accordingly. I'll go back if Danville or Boyle County makes it, but I will NEVER go to the state tournament just to go watch some football. There isn't a chance in the world.

 

I always come prepared with a 20 oz. Dew and a candy bar or two tucked away in my jacket.
