GrantNKY Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I was one of the biggest proponents saying that BK will no matter what be the coach at Notre Dame next year. But Notre Dame is going to have to work hard just to make a bowl game this year. How hot is his seat now?
Wireman Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 They should fire him today and take their chances with someone who respects the players and ND's great history.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I think it's pretty hot...but I thought that a while back. Of course I could be blinded by my disdain for all things Irish.
Harry Doyle Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Can't deal with him. I don't know how his assistant coaches and players do.
LCDAWGS19 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I don't see him surviving if they miss a bowl game.
futurecoach Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I still don't see him being fired this year unless they truly do miss a bowl game.
neilman1234 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I think he's safe regardless of how the season plays out, but he'll only buy one year. If they lose 2-3 games next year, they'll cut him loose.
All Tell Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I don't understand how he kept his job after the kid died while filming practice a few years back.
bugatti Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I don't understand how he kept his job after the kid died while filming practice a few years back. Yep. I was done then.
hrcarrier Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Very. If they don't make a bowl game, which is highly likely, I believe he will be gone. I can't stand seeing him on tv anymore, he's annoying as hell.
Irish Cat Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I'm not happy with how this season is going, but as I lifelong Irish fan I'm in no hurry to get rid of him either. He has had more success than anybody in South Bend since Lou Holtz. I thought he did an amazing job last year considering all of the injuries that they suffered through. They might have lost 3 games but unless my memory is incorrect all three loses were to teams that finished in the top 5 in the final rankings. I'm not ashamed of that. They did lose some key players from last season, but hard to explain why the defense is as bad as it has been so far. I feel like offensively things are pretty good, the Irish just can't stop anybody. I give Kelly as pass for last week. Playing in those conditions you can't really do anything that you would normally to on the field. I really feel like if Kizer would have been able to pass the ball that the Irish would have won that game, but I guess we will never know. I wouldn't be in too big of a hurry to fire Kelly. That last few coaching searches showed that guys weren't falling all over themselves to be the next coach at Notre Dame. The grass ain't always greener.... For the most part Notre Dame has been relevant while Kelly was in charge. That hasn't been the case in the not too distant past.
coldweatherfan Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 ND currently 2-4 Remaining games: Stanford Miami (Fl) #16 Navy #25 Army Virginia Tech #17 @ USC Army should be a definite win. The rest are very easily losses. That would leave them at 3-9. Ouch!

My beef with Kelly is his personal demeanor, but I agree he is a really good coach. With last year they easily could have won at Clemson (monsoon conditions with multiple turnovers like this past week), and @Stanford the Cardinal had to kick a deep FG as time expired to win. tOSU they had no shot.

The Irish could also easily beat all of these teams as none really strike a ton of fear into me. I think they get around the .500 mark.
