I'm not even sure he's a great coach after watching that game last weekend. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of coach keeps passing during a hurricane. They had not excuse for losing that game.

My beef with Kelly is his personal demeanor, but I agree he is a really good coach. With last year they easily could have won at Clemson (monsoon conditions with multiple turnovers like this past week), and @Stanford the Cardinal had to kick a deep FG as time expired to win. tOSU they had no shot.

 

I get that people don't like him and I understand why. But I put up with horrible Irish teams for so many years between Holtz and Kelly, I'm hoping this year is a bit of an anomaly and he can right the ship again. I'm worried that if they fire Kelly, they will get turned town by the primary targets and end up with somebody worse than Kelly.

I'd guess part of that is due to the fact that they play more games per season than they used to. For comparison Faust never won more games than 7 in a single year. Kelly has won more than 7 every year he has been at Notre Dame, although that will likely end this season barring a miraculous turnaround.

My personal feelings with Kelly changed with the way he left UC. Add on top of the blame game he always does, and the fact he made that kid film practice in horrible conditions leading to his death. Then his actions or inactions following that event and I abhor Brian Kelly. Having said that, I am a brain washed Irish fan and I don't see him going anywhere this year.

Notre Dame lives off their history, them making the BCS National Championship a few years back was a total joke.

They were undefeated... how is that a joke? No common opponents between Bama and ND so how were we supposed to know how the two teams compared? Also it was based off computer rankings. I understand what you're coming from, because I believe their fans live off their history, but I don't think anyone doing any rankings sees ND and thinks what they did 25 years ago.

Obviously, but they were undefeated and that has to mean something (unless of course Baylor or WVU run the table haha). I don't think Oregon would have put up that much of a fight either with their 1 loss.

I agree. His stubbornness has always been what bothered me the most. He just seems to have zero ability to go away from a game plan. He makes decent adjustments to go along with his game plan, but like we saw Saturday if he thinks they should throw the ball that's what they are going to do.

 

I'm unsure of how I feel about Kelly's future. If I'm the AD I'm putting feelers out there to see who they could replace him with. If you can snag Shaw, that would be ideal.

I understand them being undefeated means you have to put them in the championship game. But as UKMF mentioned it was like leading the pigs to the slaughter house. That could've been a much more competitive national championship game between LSU and Bama for example which is why I love the new playoff system.
