Two Patriots players, Devin McCourtey and Martellus Bennett, both raised their fists after the anthem.

Alabama prep announcer: If you don’t stand for anthem, you should be shot | | USA Today High School Sports

"If you don't want to stand for the national anthem, you can line up over there by the fence and let our military personnel take a few shots at you since they're taking shots for you," the announcer said at the game versus Houston County High School, according to Facebook poster Denise Crowley-Whitfield.

How many of you honestly think this is going to change one thing? Well its given BGP some fodder for 19 pages. Not saying its right or wrong, just asking for a honest opinion.

Well, it's got people talking about it. Doing nothing certainly won't change anything either.

Haters gonna hate . From all shades of skin color . We should always aim for fairness and equal treatment , but why do we act so totally shocked when it doesnt happen ? It isnt ever going to totally stop . Thankfully our country is ( was ??) the freest best country on the planet earth .

My exact thoughts. Doing nothing hasn't changed anything. Thoughtful well-written commentary (see Ben Watson's letter) hasn't done anything. Sometimes drastic controversial actions are necessary to get an issue to the forefront.

In regards to this comment, all those who have/are protesting the anthem have said this exact thing. I think that gets lost in their protest. They've all acknowledged this is the greatest, most free country on Earth, and that's why they're allowed and given the opportunity to do what they're doing. Just because it's the best, doesn't mean we can't strive to make it even better though.

Just as horrible as those that bought them. Imagine...BUYING a human being.

It still happens today.

And it's also caused more divide and tension in several communities. In my mind it does very little other than letting the world know how you feel.

Well at least folks aren't blocking highways, rioting, looting or bringing physical harm to anyone. Could be worse.

Glass half full approach is admirable sir. If you want change it starts at home IMO. Hate is a learned trait it's not something that comes along naturally and if it did it can be corrected with proper parenting. Simply bringing attention to a problem isn't going to fix it. I'm referring to racism in general not a problem in policing.

My community is doing fine for real. We do a great job of coexisting despite our many different beliefs. I can't speak for every community on tension and division but I am grateful to live in Boyle County. We make it work even though we know where each other stands.
