I agree. But these Freshmen aren't 14. They are turning 16 this year which is the age of normal sophomores. 16 year olds that are college/D1 material. I am agreeing with the above post that if you have that many legit college players on a team that is struggling then they probably should be playing.

 

I see what you're saying but it's tough to expect a freshman, no matter the age, to get use to the varsity speed and physicality of the game.

 

And honestly it's too early to say they are struggling. To Boyle County standards, perhaps. They played a North Hardin that took the last play of the game to decide the outcome, who beat John Hardin by two touchdowns. Then they played Lafayette who some consider the number 2, 3, or 4 in state depending on who ask and we all know that outcome. Let's see how they do tonight before we say they are struggling. Tonight will be the best measuring stick thus far and I think we can both agree on that.

No, I'm not being sarcastic. Boyle is one of the two teams I'll be watching pretty much all season. Just trying to get familiar with them.

Yeah I agree with most of that. I'm not really saying they are struggling but other posters are saying roster changes are coming because of this. How old were Tamme, Lamar Dawson, and the Leffew boys when they started at Boyle. They were D1 players on state championship teams

My son plays on the freshman team and played with all these kids since 7th grade and I know of only 4 freshman that are 15 already. As far as the talent goes it's there that's the reason they were undefeated the last two seasons and won back to back salt river championships and I don't recall any close games the past two years and don't expect any this year. IMO there should be a couple more freshman starting for the varsity at key positions.

I have to agree Grant impressed me more than Reed did Monday night and I'm a Reed Lanter fan. Hotchkiss is the total package I'd hate to be the coach to have to make the decision of which one is going to be the starter. One thing Grant has that Reed dosen't if you flush him out of the pocket he's going to make you pay for it with his running ability.

@Jack Lambert is the Man plus he is correct. There could be at least 5 different freshman to start this year for the Rebs. I went and watch the JV and Freshman play this pass Monday. It would be a shock to me if JV or Freshman were to get beat this year. They have the size, speed and play fundamental football.

It wasn't easy but I ended up picking Danville. I've already second and third guessed myself.

I can't recall how old the Leffew's were. I'm certain they started as Sophomores but can't recall if they did as freshmen. Tamme started as a Sophomore but not as a Freshman. (But Jacob suffered a broken leg about game 4 in the season and never played again that year. Imagine the 2000 team with Tamme added to that roster. )

I like both programs and I'm really glad to see Danville getting back to being Danville. I went back and forth and I'm surprised I picked against Boyle at home.
