Wow with 9-10 potential college players and 3-4 Division 1 players in one class it seems like there should be double digit freshmen starters. Does anyone have any stats for the Advocate Area teams how many kids from the area played college football last year and how many D-1 players came out of Lincoln, Garrard, Mercer, Boyle and Danville last year? I hope we have 50 players from the area in a given year move on and play college football but 10-15 from one school in one class is a very strong statement.

 

I'm thinking Danville has about at least 5-7 kids from last year's senior class commit to play college football somewhere this year. I know Josiah Robbins and Mack Cox from Boyle County are playing football this year and there may be a couple of others who are playing as well.

 

IF all of the talent from this year's freshmen class chooses to play college football I could see around 10 of them playing somewhere. I'm not sure about 3-4 of them going D-1 but I do think that there are at least 10 of them with potential to play in college.

Okay...let's keep some things in perspective. I know for a fact that Reed Lanter doesn't practice with the JV/Frosh anymore and has been learning and taking reps with Sam Tiller with the Varsity. In fact, practiced Varsity before the JV game last Monday.

 

Pretty sure they are both working hard to help BCHS win football games whenever their number is called. They are both very good at what they do and have different styles.

I see what you're saying but it's tough to expect a freshman, no matter the age, to get use to the varsity speed and physicality of the game.

 

And honestly it's too early to say they are struggling. To Boyle County standards, perhaps. They played a North Hardin that took the last play of the game to decide the outcome, who beat John Hardin by two touchdowns. Then they played Lafayette who some consider the number 2, 3, or 4 in state depending on who ask and we all know that outcome. Let's see how they do tonight before we say they are struggling. Tonight will be the best measuring stick thus far and I think we can both agree on that.

 

Agreed. I'm not ready to say Boyle County is struggling yet either. They are 0-2 but I wouldn't say they are struggling.

Yeah I agree with most of that. I'm not really saying they are struggling but other posters are saying roster changes are coming because of this. How old were Tamme, Lamar Dawson, and the Leffew boys when they started at Boyle. They were D1 players on state championship teams

 

Not sure about Tamme but Bobby Leffew was granted the medical redshirt type of year after he had graduated from high school during one of those state title years. I'm pretty sure Lamar Dawson was 17 or 18 when he graduated from high school.

 

It's a different time now from even 2010. There isn't a school in the state that isn't benefitting from holdbacks in some shape, fashion or form now. It's become the norm and I don't have a problem with it.

None of them started varsity football as a freshman to my knowledge other than playing mop-up duty with the game already settled. Jacob and Lamar where Sophomores and I believe Bobby and Travis was also.

I also read somewhere that Boyle has installed cameras at the field so I know they have the field protected. I'll be inside with Coach Adams protecting our gym floor.
