I'm not following. You said he's no Ali. Ali in 67 was hated. So, what would you have said in 67?

CK is a bit late to the disrespect for the anthem game.

I was going to post a rant in the Prem forum this morning about about the lack respect and dignity of standing, solemnly and respectfully during the anthem. People, especially younger people and students and kids, but also adults, coaches who can not stand for 2 minutes.

Standing right next to me was a middle-older age man who was looking down and one hand operating his phone during the entire anthem. I really wanted to turn to him and say - "really?" People were walking till those where not where in their way. People then they stood there - not looking at the colors - and fanning themselves. Yes, it was hot - but you can not stop for 2 minutes?

So what the difference with all this disrespect, sloppiness and disregard of ordinary people and CK's 'statement'? Nothing really. He is 'statement' what people do everyday now.

Ali made his statement about the war and draft. And he paid the consequences for 3 years. When CK quits football or gives away his entire earnings for a few years - then there may be a case to compare to Ali. But as of now - its no comparison at all. Ali he is definitely not.

I'm just glad he doesn't quarterback my team. He sucks.

I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoy most of the work that Whitlock creates.

My mother was 7 soooo...probably nothing. Apples an oranges between the Vietnam war and couple of possible unjustified shootings. Close to 100k people die each year as a result of malpractice, maybe he should skip the Dr. To protest. Maybe he should donate his salary to the families of those that were rules unjustified. So many want to cry and complain about things they know nothing about and refuse to actually do some research or do something to help. Whoa, a 2nd street quarterback didn't stand, yawn. 5 years from now, no one will remember this half hearted act of protest and 90% of America will not even know who he is. He's no Ali, never will be. End of story.

Sitting down is easier, and less expensive.

This article pretty much nails it.

As soon as I saw the author, I closed the page.

CK is a tool, plain and simple.

Just another spoiled rotten athlete who has no clue about reality. So he wants to

glorify criminals and basically believes if you are a person of color you should be able

to do whatever you want with no consequences. I hope the tool gets cut and never starts another NFL game again. First class tool.

Great athlete who was considered Unmarketable before. Consider him for no endorsements now.

I know we're making comparisons to Ali. Perhaps this is a more appropriate analogy:

I believe he has that right. I very adamantly disagree with him though. Refusing to stand because minorities are oppressed doesn't solve anything, in fact, it probably just helps make race relations worse.

You want to do something worth while to help, poor some of your millions into the black communities. And maybe he already does.

He refused to serve has absolutely nothing to do with CK thinking if you are black you should be able to break the law

with violent crimes and get away with it with zero consequences.

You couldn't be more wrong in your comparison. Ali was against the war, he wasn't against the police.

1. When I hear CK say he thinks you should be able to break the law with violent crimes and get away with it then I'll put any stock into your first sentence.

2. If you think Ali was only anti-war then I'd say do some more reading. Ali's INITIAL stances were ALL aimed at oppression. He just took it one step further by refusing to serve.

I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoy most of the work that Whitlock creates.
