The facts are this Bottom line is he is a 30 year old career .225 hitter, with over 600 plate appearances, who strikes out a ton, is below average fielder, who hasn't spent a day above AA ball. If his name wasn't Tebow the only way he'd be on the baseball field would be as a high school coach. That's not ignoring reality. That's what's on the back of his baseball card. He's a sideshow. Once people stop coming to watch him play, the Mets will cut him loose. That being said, I wish I could have had his career and sports resume.

Yes, strike outs are up this year. But you really can't compare AA pitching with MLB pitching. If you hit .225 in A/AA ball, you'll be lucky to hit .200 at the big league level. Tebow isn't a major league hitter at this point.

Most give up the game by 30 because the majority can’t afford to keep playing unless they make it to at least AAA. It’s an extremely difficult life where you are constantly on the road, you live with host families during the year, you never see your family, and your broke as hell. Tebow has the luxury that most don’t have in the fact that baseball isn’t how he’s making a living.

The you can hit or you can't does not apply when you're away that long. Look at hitters who struggle when they've been out a short time with injuries.

April 30, 20188 yr I think Tebow is a great guy. Just not a major-league baseball player. If he does get called up, it will be to sell some tickets. His career BA in the minors is .225. This year he's hitting .224 in 17 games; no improvement. He has 58 at-bats and has struck out 29 times. Even I can figure that percentage in a heartbeat. But I love the name of his team - the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
