August 16, 20179 yr I don't have Clearwater Thresher season tickets anymore and do not go often, including this current series with St. Lucie. However, last night, I got a text from my sister-in-law who went to the last 2 games and she was amazed at the turnout and the enthusiasm of the crowd. A typical Tuesday night game at Spectrum Field (one that does not fall on the 3rd or 4th of July), the Threshers draw 3K on a good night. Last night they had over 8200. 8500 is a sellout. The average attendance on Mondays is about 1500, this last Monday, over 5500. You'd think they were giving away chicken wings or something.
August 16, 20179 yr Serious question, I wonder how many athletes could stop playing a sport for eight or nine years and then pick it up again and come anywhere close to playing even this level? Don't know. Remember too, that Tebow never played ball above High School. Which makes what he's accomplished so far even tougher. Another question to ask, is how many athletes would get the same chance to try that Tebow did?

August 16, 20179 yr Very very few, if any. I want Tebow to succeed. I love the guy. I think he got a raw deal in the NFL. He's simply not very good at baseball. That's not dogging him or rooting for him to fail, it's just stating facts. The numbers don't lie. That is how I feel. People sometimes can't wrap their heads around how naturally gifted these guys are.

He still sells football jerseys and he's been out of the league for 3 years, and fills minor baseball stadiums despite the fact that he's not a great player. He might the most popular, most liked athlete of his generation.

The guy can draw a crowd which is biggest selling point to a baseball team. And he is a genuine, good dude.

August 16, 20179 yr He gets ridiculed relentlessly every day. Big difference between ridicule and saying the guy isn't a great baseball player or QB. It's probably more common to see people professing his greatness that simply doesn't exist.
