I think everyone must've watched different conventions than I did. Outside of the First Lady and Ivanka Trump's speeches (which were phenomenal), they were both incredibly difficult to watch. Regardless of which one wins, we lose.

 

I also liked Cory Booker and Paul Ryan. But people on both sides of aisle over praised their political heros speeches. Hardly any of the speeches of the "superstars" will do much for the average American deciding.

 

Rachel Maddow criticized Bill Clinton's speech , David Axlerod didn't speak to highly of Hillary's. I saw some say Hillary reached across the aisle in her speech and I'm puzzled her mistake was doing so.

 

Most the GOP and DNC conventions were about attacks. Everyone in this thread whether right or left just has to comes to grip with that. These are the two most disliked candidates in history . So that type of convention makes sense.

I didn't see either Booker or Ryan's speeches, so I can't comment on them. My whole point was, and I think we're in agreement, they were both basically 4 days worth of attacks.

The biggest takeaway from the two conventions is that the Democrats came together while the GOP moved further apart.

 

Add that the DNC looked like a Republican convention in many respects. They co-opted patriotism, love of country, greatness of country, respect for and admiration of law enforcement and the military.

 

And none of the violent protest that was predicted by many at either convention.

No, Hillary is not as bad as Trump. She is far superior. She has temperament, judgment and maturity. Donald is still snapping towels in the junior high locker room.

Not according to some of the former Secret Service people who was assigned security for her in the past. They said an assignment to Hillary was considered a punishment by the members of the service.. One of them said if you as much as glanced her way she would shout, 'What the f are you looking at?" One of them wrote a book about it. Of course there's a possibility that the stories are embellished, but they've been told by more than one. She is difficult to work with and for.

Neither party is unified. It's silly to say otherwise. When I say that I mean the voters.

Many of Trump's supporters aren't registered R's. Many of Sanders' supporters aren't registered D's. Right now the Republican Party is a train wreck because the guy at the head of the ticket isn't a true Republican.

It's safe to say that the predictions of Armageddon were greatly exaggerated. I kept waiting for Fox to show anarchists running amok on the streets of Cleveland and Philly. What I saw instead were delegates in silly hats.
