Multiple Officers Shot During Protest in Texas

Featured Replies

And he gives the black perspective. When the Mike Brown incident happened he showed sympathy to the family and vowed a thorough investigation. The investigation cleared the cop even though people swore the Obama administration would charge him and they didn't even charge the cop. But yet we still want to have feelings about what he said before his DOJ investigated?

He rushed to judgement on that shooting. That's what people have a problem with. I'm fine with giving the black perspective. Just get the facts first. Consistency would go a long way as well.

I was raised in an entirely different environment than Mike Brown. My upbringing was entirely different than his and that has defined who I am as a person. My father instilled the importance of education, hard work and discipline and that has always stuck with me throughout my life. I was raised to respect everyone especially figures of authority. Truth be told I was more afraid of my dad than anyone else on this planet. :lol2:

I'd say upbringing and environment play the biggest roles and a possible common denominator in these situations.

Well there is no way to change mindset of some then and we will always have these problems.

Like you I was raised the same way.

Now how does these concerns get fixed if people won't or aren't able to change due to social, economic, family upbringing.

Like you I think it starts at home and although not every kid raised in a good family turns out good, at least they have the chance some don't.

Do you think more black youths are subject to more crime or does it all depend on where they live.

Is it true that you can take a black out of the ghetto but not the ghetto out of a black.

Kind of like whites, once trailor trash always trailor trash.

Do you think those are true statements to a point.

Tough standard for anyone to live up to.

Can you imagine if social media was around when Lincoln was president.

Like I said, it is impossible for a black man to be a unifier. Once he starts talking like Herman Cain or Dr. Carson he will lose the ears of black people and unifying then becomes a waste of time.

Is the bigger issue convincing the blacks or the whites to unify?

Yes

He sent representatives to Michael Browns funeral. What message does that send?

Tough way to go out the door on for Obama's legacy.

He gave the black perspective. You call it rushing to judgment. I call it black perspective. At the end of the day his DOJ cleared the officer and he and I both said "fine" and moved on.

A message of sympathy to the family for their tragedy. His DOJ cleared the cop and no charges were filed on the cop. What message does that send?

Sure.

He sent reps to the funeral of someone who was trying to take an officers gun.

The local prosecutor and the grand jury cleared the officer. The DOJ did after and only because it was clear as could be that he did nothing wrong. They literally had no case against him.

You don't agree that it sends a bad message to send people to the funeral of someone who fought a police officer and tried to take their gun?

Depends on where they live. If they walk outside their home and have to choose a gang affiliation just to make it through a day of school without getting beat up then they will likely end up in a life of crime. If they walk outside their home and can play games outside or hang out with friends without getting shot and their only worry at school is getting their homework completed then chances are they will be upstanding citizens.

That saying isn't true but can be a clever anecdote when used at the right time.

Nope. Because at the time all we knew was that an unarmed kid was shot the police. At that time it was the right reaction. We had to wait weeks before we got the cop's version of the story. Mike Brown was pretty decomposed by then. When we waited for the Rodney King verdict how did waiting before jumping to conclusions work out then? And keep in mind this was the same LAPD that was proven to be corrupt and rampant with racism. This is where the disconnect between blacks and whites/police starts. After decades of mistrust between blacks/cops/government to ask blacks to not rush to judgment and wait for the investigation before getting emotional is a naive thought process. The cops are always freed and NOONE ever sees the same thing when someone presses play on the video.

But by all means Obama, fix it.
