I've been getting emails about every day lately looking to hire protection for people and groups going to Rio.

All expenses included, plus overtime. Normal pay starts out around $600 per day with assignments being from August 2nd to August 22nd.

Brazil, which usually loves to goug US tourist with their high visa cost has waived the visa requirements for the summer. They are fighting to get people to come, but they aren't or can't pay for the LEO's and other government employees the pay that they already are owed. Brazil is paying these employees as they Brazil is fighting to pay for the cost of the Games. A couple of LEO's I know from Brazil are not going to work their jobs next month, as they know they are not going to get paid, but instead they going to work private security and details where they know they will paid.

Someone may feel that they can go and be fine, but I'd never take my family to Rio this summer, it's not going to be a pleasant few weeks. But one thing that the Rio Games may do, is get the IOC to finally clean house and get rid of some of the corruption.

I told some people over the weekend that there is no way I'd go to Rio to watch these Olympics. But for that kind of coin, I would gladly go.

^ Want to hear something that is beyond unbelievable? Brazil awarded a small, inadequate, and inexperienced security firm the security contract. Oh, and they didn't offer the contract until July 1st, OF THIS YEAR! YES! They awarded their security contract just over two weeks ago. Which is why everyone is now scrambling to get security.

They were given 5 weeks. 5 weeks to recruit, train, do background checks, on over 6,000 people, all within 5 weeks! For security! Good luck!

They also caught 4 terror suspects recently trying to enter Brazil.

I believe this has happened before on the swim team. I can't think of a specific example when, but I'm almost positive very seen that occur in swimming before.
I may be wrong about this but if they don't have the Olympic standard they will lose their place to someone who does.

It happens in T&F some, especially in the field events.

Here is a facebook post from a college friend of mine:

USA ! USA ! During these times, we need a hero and someone to cheer for. Ryan Murphy qualified for the Rio Olympics by winning the 100 & 200 meter backstroke. His Dad, Pat, was a stud football player at St Laurence HS. Mom & Dad are normal everyday Chicago Southside people, who just work hard and obviously passed that ethic off to their son. I'm looking forward to cheering on an incredible story. He's won in life already!

CBS aired a segment within the last few weeks detailing the mess that is the bay of Rio and the creeks and a river that flow into it. Once they won the bid to host the government pledged to build 6 new wastewater treatment plants. They've built one.

That bay makes the Florida algae blooms look like a paradise. Loaded with garbage, human waste, and cess pool for disease. Sailors, and rowers who have gone to train early to get familiar with the courses have already gotten sick being exposed to the water. The pollution rates were 1.6 million times greater than what is "unhealthy" in California. :irked:

I will gladly watch womens beach volleyball, track & field, gymnastics, and swimming. Call it a hunch they're not going to air a lot of sailing and rowing events!

FORT THOMAS MATTERS: Jac Collinsworth Heading To Olympics To Head Up Social Media Coverage

Jac Collinsworth is heading to the Summer Olympics, but instead of playing sports, he'll be NBC's first Olympics' social media correspondent.

Via Facebook Live, Twitter and Instagram, he'll be interviewing athletes and giving a behind-the-scenes look.

The following is WVXU's John Kieswetter:

At 21, Jac Collinsworth will be one of NBC's youngest reporters ever covering the Summer Olympics. But don't expect any father-son moments with Jac and Cris Collinsworth from Rio de Janeiro on NBC's Facebook Live stream, Twitter or the NBC TV network.

"He's done Olympics for like 97 years, and I finally get this, and he's not going to be there! I'm a little bummed," says Jac by phone from the family's Fort Thomas home.

"I thought that if I was ever going to the Olympics, we'd be there together."

His famous father might fly down "for four days or so" to see the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Brazil before dad gets "plenty busy in the fall" on NBC's "Sunday Night Football." The Opening Ceremony airs Friday, Aug. 5, with Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira and Hoda Kotb.

Jac, a Notre Dame University senior this fall, will be NBC's first Olympics’ social media correspondent. He’ll interview athletes and NBC analysts, and provide a behind the scenes look at the Rio games on social media platforms.

He's been working for NBC Sports for three years, as a sidelines producer for NBC's Kathryn Tappen and Alex Flanagan. He's also hosted the "ND Live" digital show, and co-hosted the weekly "Student Section" sports show on SiriusXM radio (7-9 p.m. Mondays, Channel 84).

^Do you think Jac knows that his name is missing a letter? :D

All in good fun! :lol2:

"I almost feel like putting a kangaroo in front of their building to make them feel at home," says Rio mayor

The Governor has a mess on his hands. That place will make the Delta Tau Chi house look like the Sistine Chapel once this event is over.

Toga!
