Highlands 48 Dixie 0

Featured Replies

Maybe you don't understand. I understand perfectly. They were not going to be stopped. Highlands should have either not lined up with the unbalanced formation, or line up in that formation and shift and kick it. Don't tell me they don't have the basic kick formation because I saw it twice on FG attempts. There is absolutely no need to show the extra point gadgetry against an inferior opponent. Think about it.

Then again, it may make some sense to have teams spend an hour a week preparing to defend it, thus taking away an hour of preparing their defense or offense to play Highlands. Heck, I'm a woman and figured that out.

HMMMM... Male hangs 68 on the Birds (albeit a scrimmage but points of reference are in short supply this eary). Then the Birds shut out Dixie. Doesn't say much for NKY 4A, does it? I wonder with the new playoff format, what would a Male/Dixie showdown in Papa Johns would look like. I guess the KHSAA really "fixed" the playoffs this time.

Nice to see Guru as the star of the Skyline Game of the Week!

It's up the defense to at least TRY to stop it. Shame on Dixie's coaches for not properly making adjustments.

HHS has too much for Dixie to handle........45-14 'Birds. This might be the only blemish on Dixie's regular season schedule!

the above was my prediction on an earlier thread...I publicly apologize to the HHS defense. I NEVER should have thought Dixie would score...let alone do it twice!! Great game D....nice "goose-egg" Also an absolutely DOMINATING job by the O-line. Big #78 was moving his guy off the line like he was hittin' a practice sled. Birds were pullin' and trappin' like crazy...although pass blockin' needs work! Dale's gotta have something to harp on this week.

So who exactly is Highlands starting QB?

Birds' pass protection needs to improve greatly. With the big guys up front, the quarter back should have all day to throw.

Great game for the first of the year, Birds.:dancingpa

It's not going to take an hour to figure out that you point one more defensive guy out there on the defensive left side and bring him.

Wow Dixie must be really down this year. Kramer is a good back but if you lay a stick on him he's going down. Hopefully Dixie gets it together and for Highlands, I wouldn't think too much into this one, they have a few heavyweights waiting for them.

Not sure how you can say this. Isn't this outcome more on the norm between these two and Dixie seems to always go on and be very competitive in 4A. HHS wouldn't schedule them if they didn't feel they were playing a qaulity opponent. Also Kramer, you have to catch him first to lay that stick on him. He will have his way up here in NKY. Against the big boys, yeah it might be harder but he's still going to get them especially with the line he has this year. Each week, that line will get better and better and when it comes time to play the big ones, they will open up the holes and it will be off to the races. Oh, as far as not thinking to much into it, HHS beat a qaulity team that will be in the playoffs this year and by playing them only helps HHS get better for the next game!

Wow, that Conner game next week should be a barn burner.

The birds completely dominated this game, and it started from the kickoff. The only thing I can honestly question is why didn't Spritzky elect to receive the opening kickoff? Anyways, the birds won the battle in the trenches, and that was the key in this game. Offensively, the opened holes that I could run through. Defensively, they were in the backfield all night long.

Kramer, IMO, isn't that great of a back. I mean, he's so ellusive, and he can cut on a dime. He also runs like a cheetah and has good hands. :D The kid was just stellar tonight. If I'm Dale, I get the ball in his hands as much as I possibly can. He stays so low to the ground, that he practically hides behind his blockers. I was very impressed with him tonight.

Cecil needs to work on catching the snap before moving. It looked as though he was trying to take off before receiving the snap, thus resulting in the few fumbles he had. However, with game experience, he'll be fine. His arm isn't good enough to beat you on the deep outs, but he throws a nice deep ball with air under it. The pass to Kramer was a thing of beauty. He threw it up and let him run underneath it. They definitely need to work on the passing defense a little more.

Defensively, the line and linebackers were solid. They just swarm to the ball. However, the middle of the field was open a lot tonight. This is the area that they need to fix.

Well, it was a typical first game for Dixie, even though they have experienced players. The o-line looked as though they never played a game together. They could not block at all. Bricking couldn't hit his receivers. His short throws were behind the receivers, and the long throws were out ahead of the receiver. It looked as though he'd never thrown to those guys before.

Defensively, the line got pushed around all night. They did seem to get pressure on the qb when they blitzed from the side, but they only did that a few times. Sorrell was rotating them around all night to find a right lineup, but the birds were just too much tonight.

As a Dixie fan, you like to see them compete with Highlands, but you've come to understand that these types of starts have been typical the past few years. Spritzky will right the ship, and get these guys playing before districts as I have no doubt in that.

Congrats to the birds on a great game. You guys took the opening kickoff and never looked back. Dixie, keep your heads up, and keep working hard. You'll get things fixed before districts, when these games really count.

And then they pass the ball to where you took the one defensive guy from and score two points over on that side. Henry figured that out and she's a woman.

Dont know what game you were watching but most pass possessions he had time to make a quilt. Only time Dixie put any pressure on Clay was when they brought one more defensive guy than Highlands had in pass protection. Watch the tape and count them. Just a matter of Clay getting the feel for the rush and finding the hot receiver when they blitz.

I hope Highlands does well but ill wait to start making pizza box predictions until they play St X/Elder. They will let HHS know if they are as good as they think or if they need to improve on a lot.
