Thanks LTW. We are also looking forward to see you and your Warrior brethen. You are, as they say, good people.

Thanks LTW, looking forward to meeting you on Sept. 15. Good Luck to the Warriors before and after the 15th, however Sept. 15 belongs to the Birds.:thumb:

As good as the Birds looked last night, I still think there is room for improvement. Dale needs to stress to these boys how important it is to fall on a fumble, I saw the Birds try to pick it up at least three times after a fumble. I do agree the we need to work on the passing game. Clay had a nice pass to Max Little last night that was nulled by a flag. Jordan showed just how quick he was to get under that pass he caught for the big TD. Wise was impressive at center last night altough at times his snap was low and at Cecil's shins. With everthing it is a working process and he will be just fine. Bathiany played great both kicking and defense. One of the first pass attempts Dixie threw for, I believe Drew almost intercepted. Enough rambling for now, but on one last point, I was sitting five rows up off the 50 yrd line, after Highlands scored the second TD and 2 pt conversion, I heard one of the Dixie defenders yell, Man we Suck. I really believe those two early and quick scores took the wind out of Dixie fast and its almost luike they rolled over.

Go Birds!!!!!

The Colonels looked demoralized after the Birds just threw em around like a sack of potatoes. Birds scored I think 3 touchdowns and there was still 7 minutes left in the first qtr.

I saw some Dixie coaches chewing some guys out for execution errors and penalties so hopefully these guys learn from their mistakes. I think Spritzky is a very good coach so I am pulling for them in 4A....Nothing you can do when talent for talent you are outmanned.

Someone closer to the program can say for sure but it's my understanding the boys are taught from a young age to pick up and advance balls on the ground. Different from what this old lineman was taught to do but can't argue with the record.

Well, then they are beign taught the wrong thing. You secure possession and go back to the drawing board, you shouldnt risk a turnover just so you can look good on the highlight film.

Now, if a lineman wants to advance a ball and he sees paydirt....what the heck... go for it big FELLA. :thumb:

Looks like the Bluebirds are in mid-season form.

I understand the point SA is making MC. While the first two games are decent opponents, we won't find out how good we are or are not until we play Elder, X and DeSales. I'm not saying that we can't win state if we don't beat all three of those teams (although of course I believe we will if for no other reason if you don't believe it will happen, it can't), but those games are a better barometer of how will we fare against CovCath, LexCath, Rockcastle, Bell, Boyle and/or BG than I believe the Dixie and Conner games are.

Remember HHS lost to Elder in the regular season in their last 2 championship seasons. I understand these are benchmark games. I don't think that benchmark concerns other 3A teams though. I believe the Birds know where they stand in class3A. Going 15-0 against these opponents would be a barometer of where they stand in the nation, and in HHS history.

Don't take it for gospel until someone who knows for sure confirms it. Anyway, some programs are more aggressive than others and are willing to take the risks. I too am more of a conservative cover the ball type of guy, but then again, I don't have 15 rings.

I know lineman are not taught this. In the FTJRFL anyone with a stripe on his helmet cannot advance the ball. They are taught to just cover it up.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. :D

Those Lorenzon/Guidugli type teams don't come around that often! ;)

I am not saying this years team specifically. More in the hypothetical of any HHS team. I know Guidigli lost to Elder. I am not familiar with the record of Lorenzens teams. Were they undefeated, and did they beat a D1 Ohio school?

No, but they came close once or twice, and were nationally ranked.

OK then hypothetically, a 15-0 season with wins over the teams on this schedule would place a team where in HHS lore? My initial point was that how they play against the big powerhouse teams is not a barometer on how they fare in 3A. It will help prepare the Birds for a title run. But there is no 3A team in KY that could compete in the GCL year in and year out. Its apples and oranges.
