Let me say that I have no idea what's true in this case or what's really going on so...I am only addressing the cursing issue.

 

Cursing in and of itself is a)VERY common with coaches and b)not worthy of being fired.

 

Unless the handbook says you can be fired for it.

Never seen a handbook that covers that.

 

The thing about coaching is that the administration doesn't really have to have reason. Coaching is basically a yearly deal.

Word is out on who all is involved- players, parents, coaches and administrators. I'm ashamed of all of them.

Fair enough. If this happens then most coaches in NKY had better be careful.

You gotta be careful as a coach these days in regards to what you say to kids these days. Not saying it's right or wrong. It's just the way things are now. If you can't say it in the classroom (or any other workplace setting) you probably shouldn't say it on the practice field/court or during games.

I think all the accusers and people involved should be held accountable just like they feel Brad Carr should be held accountable. If they aren't willing to be publicly accountable for their actions and claims, they look hypocritical and this looks like a witch hunt.

Whats next? Coach fired for raising an eyebrow toward a player? Coach suspended for only clapping for 5 seconds after a player makes a free throw? This society has gotten waaaayyyyy too sensitive.

Yes, very. If someone called your kids a bunch of mother liking cats which is crossing the line IMO. Cussing, yelling, screaming, chewing out I do not care at all. If the Kenton County School District does not punish him it makes them look like they condone this type of behavior from a coach who is supposed to be a role model.

Any AD who puts up with that stuff should not be an AD very long. You can have that type of conversation after every single basketball game that is played.

Which goes to my larger point that the secrecy is part of the problem with our schools and with the KHSAA.

 

Again everyone, these are government controlled entities that do almost everything in secret so they can't be held accountable by the general public/taxpayers.

 

Ultimately, if you have a good head on your shoulders you should strongly consider NOT going into Teaching or Coaching. The system is rigged against you.

But as an AD, you also can't ignore it either. Even if it's it's just a response that "I won't discuss playing time", you can't just not answer. And then you probably need to document the conversation. Not an easy job, lots of headaches, all for only a little extra money.

Do you think Brad Carr yells at his kids the same way he yells at his players? NO. So why does it make it okay for him to say those terms to kids that aren't even his? Let me restate from previous posts: I am ok with cussing and yelling. Not personal attacks on teenagers.

This is exactly my problem with schools in ky, namely my local one.

 

I'm still amazed at how secretive ours acts. When the taxpayers vote 6 to 1 for a coaching hire they , desolve the hiring committee, rid themselves of the public eye then try to make a hire based on friendships and buddies. They want zero accountability from the taxpayers, its mind blowing.
