Tickets are much higher at NKY than at Western. Reserved Seating WKY was $15.00 per session.

$35 for a courtside ticket is crazy.

I realize that Northern Kentucky rarely has radio coverage of Sweet Sixteen games. But, I'm just sayin' it's all part of the big picture of hosting the games in our community.

 

I left Mount Sterling shortly after noon and listened to the WMST broadcast of the Leslie/Mercer game. I'm sure Maysville WFTM probably covered the games. It reflects poorly on NoKy that we get a showcase event, but outside of the BB&T/NKU Campus, it's just another day in paradise.

 

I do realize that the games can be heard via internet through various outlets.

I would think local restaurants around the arena may throw up some "welcome" signs.

They had this big meeting over a week ago with a who's who of Northern Kentucky and NKU dignitaries in attendance planning for this event.

 

You might have thought that someone would have been assigned the job of notifying the local businesses/eateries that this event was taking place, and soliciting their visible support

$35 for a courtside ticket is crazy.

 

High $ but those are literally chairbacks sitting on the edge of the court. Don't think I'd pay that much, but they are premium seats.

I'm interested in how the traffic flow will be getting into NKU. I've been to a couple large events there (concert and 10th Region tourney) and the traffic in took a long time due to lights and congestion.

Very poor organization to get the word out to area businesses. Would think they would welcome the opportunity to showcase the northern Kentucky area and all the interesting places and activities. Wonder why the local businesses did not do some type of showcase activities or competitions or contests at the site. 10th Region had a free throw contest at Montgomery Co. and gave a two year scholarship at Vocational and Technical School in Maysville. So many opportunities missed evidently. Had a Dr. appointment in nky, and saw no welcoming signs at any business. Very poor advertising. Apparently nky doesn't need the extra business???

That is why the KHSAA only did a 2 year contract. They wanted to see how it would work there. To me a city would be dumb not to promote and want it there. Think about all the business all the hotels, restaurants, and gas stations would get.

For my money, I'm going to vote that Mustang throws his gear in the car, sets up shop and gives us the play by play with Lawnboy doing color.....

You are absolutely right on this. It's sad. Drove south on 471 into the Highland Heights late this afternoon and expected to see something, anything. NKU didn't even have a sign set up (other than their normal marquee that flash the tourney and dates along with other events) saying anything about the Sweet 16. There was a temporary mobile sign sitting next to the marquee, but it was not working. Honestly, the traffic wasn't even that bad. Does anyone outside of the schools participating and the more than casual basketball fans even know this event is going on?????

KHSAA has their own WiFi set-up, they have turned OFF the NKU public WiFi.
