August 9, 201610 yr Congratulations on the ace! I agree with difficult pin placements being overdone! If a course is legit, it doesn't have to be tricked up! I'll check out the buffalo.
August 9, 201610 yr So, beer? If that's what it takes! Lol! Had a buddy that called beer aiming oil! Worked for him!
August 17, 201610 yr Has anyone played at Shaker Run before? Have a tee time Friday morning looking forward to playing there I've read some nice reviews.

August 17, 201610 yr Author Shot a 40 last night. Man it was muggy, we got quite a bit of rain early yesterday afternoon then another little shower about 5:00. Wasn't hot, but needed a light saber to cut the humidity. After hitting my driver like total crap all season, I tried something a couple of rounds ago and it seems to be working, hitting some of my best drives of the year yesterday. I had moved the ball up so far in my stance off the tee that the ball was even with the outside of my front foot, and I was looking to move it up even farther in an attempt to fix my problems, which seemed to be getting worse. heard something on a golf show, and actually brought the ball way back farther in my stance, actually farther than normal, just shy of being in the middle of my stance. Hitting the ball either dead straight or with a little left to right fade. Completely goes against instinct, at least to me, but so far it's working and I hope it stays that way.

The original 18 is very, very nice...an Arthur Hills design. Great test of golf. I don't like the new 9, and only play it when I have to.

August 29, 201610 yr Supposed to play Lassing Pointe on Wednesday. Any advice? Everyone in the world likes it but me. I have never played it well and have no idea why. The greens are huge. #18 has the largest green I have ever played. easily 50-60 yards front to back. Good luck. Running joke with my friends is that they get guaranteed $$ in their pocket if they play me there.
August 29, 201610 yr Supposed to play Lassing Pointe on Wednesday. Any advice? One of my favorite public courses in KY! Only advice I have is pay attention to where the pins are. I say that because the greens are large. Only hole I don't like is #3. The other 17 are terrific in my opinion. Enjoy.
August 29, 201610 yr Supposed to play Lassing Pointe on Wednesday. Any advice? I don't know if your long off the tee, if so, don't go for #8 in two, near impossible. PLay as 3-shot hole. #18 green is 100 yards long per their gimmick when course first opened
August 29, 201610 yr I really like Lassing Pointe, of course, I have probably played it 100 times since it opened. The fairways are very generous, the greens are immense, and there is a premium to approaching into the right quadrant. Has some really good par 3's. I don't love 18 either, but it has less to do with the 100+ Yard deep green, and more to do with the fact that you can't hit driver off the tee, which leaves you a LONG way out if the pin is all the way in the back. Don't be lulled into thinking you caught a break if the pin is in the front on #18, that little approach is impossible off a down-hill lie with about a living room's worth of space to land it in. Have fun.

Have fun. I have played Lassing Pointe many, many times. Whether you can hit driver off the tee depends on the tees you are playing IMO...unless you are really long. I usually play the back tees and can hit driver comfortably. I actually like 18. 13 is the hole that gives me fits - very hard! 14 is also a very tough par 3. Have to get it over the water but a shallow green and long is NO GOOD either... Overall, I think a very fun and fair course.
August 30, 201610 yr 13 is brutal. If there is a harder shot in golf than from the rough / bunker in the back left of 13, I don't want to know. I'm long (and inaccurate) off the tee, but I hit driver on #18 most of the time. Really fun course when it is in good shape. Overall, it has been fine this year, although the tee boxes have been a bit chewed up. It's my favorite course in NKY.
