My 7 year old wanted to play this morning, so of course I oblige and tell him we'll go around 9:30. So we get ready, eat a little breakfast and then head out to the car to go to the golf course. I totally forget my clubs were in my wife's car and she was already in Louisville. So, I go to the garage and pull out the irons I played with in high school and the first couple years of college. They are Titleist 962's. Although the grips were a little (more like a lot) worn, they were as good as I remember. I'm honestly considering re-gripping them and putting them back in the bag. Probably more of a mind thing, but at this point I'm willing to try anything.

Played Friday evening at Tanglewood. Thought my days with sub par rounds were over. Played at about 6400. Barely missed two fairways. Shot 69 with a double bogey on #4 from center of fairway 50 yards out. Feel like I'm primed for the Calcutta tourney on Sunday. Have to wonder how many rounds like this I have left in me.

Here's something that probably shouldn't bother me, but does.

Why do so many professional golfers - many of them European - immediately upon finishing a round take off their caps, run their right hands through their sweating hair, then proceed to shake hands with everyone?

Got back from dinner and played a quick 18 at Woodson Bend. Get in my cart outside my condo start on 7 and finish at my condo on 6. Shot the best round of the year. 78! That is not normal. Just one of those nights that everything I hit went straight and no trouble except the first hole #7 where with an OB and had a double and number 18 when I save a bogey with an OB.

Much more enjoyable for me to play the forward tees.

Played Bristol Oaks CC today in Kenosha, WI. it's a little rough around the edges and has seen its better days, but it's a nice enough course some interesting holes and the weather was absolutely beautiful.shot in 86, 45 on the front and a 41 on the back, with the back being the hardest and longest of the two nines.hit the ball pretty decently but really struggled with the putter. Could have easily been an 81 and I would have been very happy with that, when considering never having played the course. Wasn't real upset with the 86 especially after playing well on the back nine

Gonna play for the second time of the season today with my youngest today. And that means I'll be at the tips. Ugh

Shot a 39 (played front 9) at Highland Woods Monday up here in the Chicago area near my hotel. Long course, plays over 6900 yards from the tips, I played the whites which were the 3rd tees and it still played over 6,400 yards from there. Nice, open course with a ton of bunkers. Course sits in the middle of a preserve. I really played well, had a birdie and several pars but avoided that big blowup hole I am prone to have and did nothing worse than a bogie. We walked it and playing partner said we had walked almost 3 1/2 miles. Though its pretty flat several holes have a bit of distance from green to next tee box making for a long walk. Weather was great though so not a big deal. Wish this course was near the house, I like it.

If the tips are 6900 yards, from tee to green totals almost 21,000 feet. There are 5280 feet in a mile, so from tee to green, you walked 4 miles. Add in distance between holes, zig-zagging, etc. and I guarantee you walked 5+ miles.

You are selling yourself short, "BIGV"! :sssh:

I stink.

I can relate.

Remember I only played the front 9, so about 3 1/2 miles, little less according to his GPS.

Playing a scramble at Boone Links tomorrow. I haven't played there in years. I used to play it all the time in the 80's, early 90's. I even played it in the mid 70's when it was Boone Aire

I can relate.

To elaborate, I don't know if it's the heat or what. Last couple of times out have been frustrating. Can't make a putt, can't get an approach shot close. Bad combination.

Does anyone have any opinions on fairway woods? I have a hybrid but I am looking to get something that has a little more to it like a 3 wood.

Adams Tight Lies Ti. Just bought one a few weeks ago and really really like it. Great off the fairway, from the tee box and exceptional out of the rough. Good feel and sound. This time last year the club sold for $250. I got mine off of Rock Bottom Golf for $75.00 brand new a few weeks ago, but just checked and they are all out If you can find one I highly recommend it.
