or take I-75 South

to I-64 East

take the Moutain Parkway Exit (80 miles from Pikeville at this point)

turn on U.S. 23 South @ Prestons burg, head towards Pikeville

Then take U.S. 119 North to Belfry

Thats the best way to go in my opinion as well.

iPapi, your way is a lot longer, but I understand a lot of people try to avoid the AA and US52.

I can make it to Covington 5th Street in rought 4 hours and 10 minutes usually.

I don't know who will win. But I do remember you giving NCC the same warning for the Mayfield Championship game last year. And that turned out okay for the Breds.

You are right about that one . . . . . I was wrong.

IMO--NCC has a habit of looking down their nose at certain teams. I feel like they will do this to Belfry. The hooting and yelling from NCC will not bother Belfry in the slightest.

I also think:

Less mobile QB = possible issues for NCC offensive game plan

Belfry Defense can stuff the run.

Belfry is a very aggressive football team. (More aggressive than NCC)

If Belfry can control the ball--NCC is not going to get any offensive continuity.

Now--all of that could also work in the opposite fashion as well.

Now--I don't know if that equals an NCC win or a Belfry win. And in reality--I don't care all that much. But I have a feeling that Belfry likes the way this one is playing out. (Being the underdog).

Scrimmages may not mean all that much--but regardless of what people say--NCC has some definite holes that need to be filled. I am sure that a coaching staff like Belfry has will find those holes.

The only thing that I will definitely commit to--is that this will be a much better game than the NCC faithful thinks.

IMO, Belfry is being taken very, very lightly. Which is very hard to understand....considering they've won 2 out of the last 3 AA championships..and were thisclose to advancing to a third trip to Papa Johns.

Both teams have questions at crucial positions...QB and DE to name a couple.

I haven't seen NCC's QB...but I know he's got big shoes to fill. Belfry has played the last 3 season with essentially the QB being just a role player. That will change this season. My guess is the Belfry QB will be a huge factor in the overall outcome of this contest.

I look for BHS to take this one...

I don't think anyone is discounting Belfry. Any knowledgable fan knows the Pirates will be tough in November, although the reports from their scrimmages were far from glowing.

I think the overall perception is that NewCath is just that good.

It'll be interesting....and regardless who wins..both teams will benefit from the competition.

By whom?

Throughout the thread many of picked 2A power Belfry and many of picked 1A champ NCC. Both coaching staffs have expressed how much they respect each other (if you read the article in the link).

I agree, Both these coaches do respect each other and you will see that sportsmanship on Friday Night, at CAM Stadium, I think its all speculation about who will win, I feel like alot of fans from both schools know that both teams have question marks, and this game is going to go along way in telling these great coaches what they need to work on. I just look forward to a great night of football at Belfry High School!.. Go Bucs!

This game will be webcast.

GO PIRATES :ylsuper:

Despite all the latenight hanging at the bar during the week, I'm picking Newcath to win by a comfortable margin of 35-12. Newcath usually has some decent size and can stuff Belfry's running game. You can blow out Newcath with speed, but I don't think Belfry will have that type of speed based on the past history of Belfry teams. Newcath will start slow like the usually do, but pull away in the 3rd quarter.

You are saying Belfry wont have speed based on past history of Belfry? You must not know a whole lot about Belfry football. There has also been a lot of teams who have said that Belfry is "One Dimensional" well you can ask anyone who has played against Belfry, they may be a running team, and you may know what they are going to do but try and stop it. Thats what Haywood does, its called smashmouth football, and the Pirates won't back down from NCC. I am not going to guarantee a Belfry win by any means, they are traditonally slow starting team but I am pretty much going to tell you that NCC will not stuff Belfry's running game! I can't wait til tommorow night!
