Thats garbage why don't you get your facts straight before you come on here and post false statements? Newport is not the SAME at the start of the season as they are at the end like most high school teams. So that comparison was completely irrelevant

I think alot of teams wouldn't mind to be "poor old" Belfry. Three straight regional championships, two state titles does any of that ring a bell. You can talk all you want about Belfry getting beat tonight.. doesn't bother me, because if they do get beat then I will be the first to congratulate NCC, but if Belfry does win, I am sure I won't find the same courtesy from you.

IMO I would say Beechwood has a quantum talent advantage in 97 and 98 and 99 and an narrow advantage in 00. NCC had an advantage in 01. Beechwood a narrow advantage in 02. Even in 03, 04. NCC slight advantage in 05 (especially at the end of the season).

I'm not a coach, so I kind of have to go off what they tell me. I can tell you that Tom Spritzky at Dixie is probably the most respected for his x's and o's approach to the game. Dale Mueller at Highlands is probably the best motivators. It's hard to argue with NewCath coach Bob Schneider, the state's all-time wins leader. Also, I think Schneider has the best staff. What they did with last year's team down the stretch was unbelievable.

I am going to tell you this--I doubt that many coaches in NKY would say that this is an accurate statement by Ernst. My OPINION is that Ryan needs to write about what he sees on Friday nights--as opposed to speculating as to what other coaches say to each other.

 

No offense . . . but he is a lot more popular with the readers -- and I don't know of many coaches who have made similar statements. I think that Spritzy is a great coach--but I have never heard any coach claim that he is the master of X's/O's up here (that doesn't mean that he isn't--I just haven't ever heard anything similar--and I am around a few people who are big fans).

 

And just so we are perfectly clear--regardless of what is what--Mike Yeagle was at the top of any of the above categories in the not so recent past.

I am taking the RED ARMY OF BELFRY in this one still like I said earlier... NCC better not take Belfry lightly or they will find themselves on the bad end of Belfrys BAD TO THE BONE WISHBONE attack like many good teams have

You're getting fished in...he's an old vet at getting people ticked off. If you sit back and watch him work, it's pretty funny and amazing how often he traps people.

If I were going to pick the winner of tonight's game I would probably go with NCC for a couple of reasons...1) Belfry generally starts slowly and gets MUCH better as the season goes on...My prediction may be different if this was week 10 rather than week 1... 2)If NCC is favored to win Class A this year, I would expect the #1 team from 1A to beat a team from 2A that is not considered to be the best team in 2A...That is not a cut at Belfry...They may end up being the best in 2A by the end of the year but the edge goes to NCC at this point in the season...

 

This will be a great test for both teams...No matter who wins, I would not write the other team off come playoff time...

 

As far as the atmosphere or homefield intimidation factor goes, I would think that Cam Field is nowhere near as tough a place to play as Vipperman was...Don't get me wrong, the Pirate fans are still as rabid as ever but at least they are no longer breathing down the necks of the visiting team like they were at Vipperman...Plus, NCC is not the type of program that is easily intimidated no matter where they play...

 

This game has the makings of a real slug fest!!! I'd like to see this game but I will be watching Belfry's next opponent Ashland host Raceland tonight...Good luck to both teams...

This is just an opinion, so take it for what it is worth. There are two reasons that I believe NCC should be a heavy favorite in this game. The first is that NCC has a very large defensive front that is well coach and disciplined. That is going to make it tough to score using a wishbone offense. The second reason is that Belfry will have problems defending a four wide offense in the begining of the season. They run two tights through doubles, therefore, their starting defense hasn't spent the practice time against this style of offense during the preseason. Most iron man running teams have problems defending the spread pass early in the year.
