I think NCC has to be the favorite. I think it will be a good game. Belfry will miss the big play this season and especially early in the year. It will most likely take some time to get the timing down and such, but I think the Pirate defense will play well. Knowing the Belfry "slow start" tradition, I expect NCC to win in a close game.

NCC - 28

Belfry - 14

One of NCC's touchdowns come late as Belfry fights the clock to catch up and gives away field position.

I must say I would love to travel East to see this game. Although, I am more familiar with the West, I have a lot of respect for the East (given what they have done to the Owensboro Catholic Aces the last 2 years). This should be a barn burner. My wife (can you believe it) can not justify me traveling that far for a game. Gee you would think she would understand.

Yeah I said during the first half it will have an affect on him. And it will both teams with any players playing a new position for atleast a couple plays. But the qb position is the tuffest to break into.

Belfry will have to deal with the same thing though but ours did start out the season starting last year so it might make it a little bit easier on him.

This is going to be an exciting game. Belfry defintley has their hands full and everyone I have talked to respects NCC alot and is excited about the game.

I kept reading, ready to post, wondering if anyone would realize that this years QB started against Henry Clay, Ironton and Lawrence Co last year. He had the privlege of opening up CAM Stadium as the QB and reconized that as a privlege. And although he didn't continue to "start" when our senior was well enough to play, he did continue to play the position as back up and was also the "possible" starting QB for this year. He's not "the" returning starter but he's not new either. He's worked very very hard ALL summer with the coaches as well as on his own at hit camp and from what I hear he's done fantastic and should be more than ready. It might take time to settle in but he should be fine.

For the record this has nothing to do with competeing QB Bowe who was injured. We need him as well. He's a great asset to the team so we all do hope he recovers fast!

It is at home but I'm not sure what time.

Has anyone given much thought to this? Friday night just think of how 2 great of coaches will be against each other. In my opionion 2 out of the top 5 of active coaches. It will be a great match up of tow classy guys. I was wondering will this be the most wins total by 2 coaches in the same game in the history of the state?

Friday, the 18th, at Belfry, Game time 8:00

Belfry has a tendency to start out a little slow. Should be a great game with two great programs. This is a tough one to pick.

Can someone tell me what NCC. has coming back this year?

Is the Vickers kid back? HOw did they look during the preseason?

I'll make my prediction, a little later in the post.

NCC returns most of their O and D lines. The O line is big, strong and can open some holes for the returning tailback, Vicars. The QB and first couple receivers graduated but the Harris kid has apparently looked good throwing the ball in their two scrimmages.

They have scrimmaged two 4A schools ( Simon Kenton & Dixe Heights ) and from accounts on BGP have been the better team in both scrimmages. I didn't see either so can't way in with details. It seems as though the passing game will cause more trouble to opponents than originally thought.

If they are able to throw the ball effectively enough to keep teams from loading the box, Vicars and the Breds could have another very strong offensive team.

I would like to say the starting qb looked sharp in the hazard scrimmage.

the other qb is healing and may be back before end of season:ylsuper: that said it looks to be a very interesting game. I say belfry by 6 in the end.

Several things , having been at the last game ever at Vipperman ... For the visitors , fans and players it was like the bad guy at a WWE wrestling match. All the home fans are right behind your bench only a few feet seperating the stands from the playing field. Certainly a home field advantage. The normal visitor support on that night was standing in the mud along the fence at either end or up on the hillside certainly isolated from our kids. I saw a tape of a game at CAM certainly a more normal envirnoment or at least it looked it on TV..

Belfry fans who traveled to Russell last year although alot of them were no factor in the outcome of the game , with following exception. Coming out of the half , I always moved to our locker room area to encourage my son. Coming out of the half , the Devils took the field first , as I was walking back to my seat , the Belfry parents - including mothers , former players and fans were busy jacking the team up in a manner also similar to a WWE match. I like wrestling and also this approach by Belfry. It was clear each Belfry kid knew fan support and how much a winning tradition means to the RED Army Faithful. I knew we were in for a real second half .... Thank heavens we held off the " Boogie Man" and the Red Army .

I love that... the Red Army

NCC will roll in this game. I predict they will win by 2 touchdowns or more. They have a load of talent on both sides of the football. There defense is as solid as i've seen in football. They play fast and play hard. This should be a good statement game on how up to par the 1a teams are to the 2a teams.

I have no problem with saying NCC will win. For that matter, I have no problem with someone saying NCC will roll. But 2 tds.. that's not rolling.

As a lifelong Belfry fan, I honestly expect Belfry to lose this game. I know this will sound like a broken record, but Belfry doesn't open the year anywhere NEAR their best. NCC will be able to exploit the secondary and make some big plays. As bad as I hate it, I will be watching the game not looking for a W, but looking for room to grow. I guess Coach Haywood has finally drilled into my mind... It really is about "getting better every week."

I don't feel that NCC will roll in this game at all, it will be a good game, As far as the 1A teams being par to 2A teams, that may be true in some cases but almost any class can say they have some teams who are as good as other teams in different classes. If anything all it shows is two good football programs squaring off on a Friday Night! This game on friday could go either way, I honestly would love for Belfry to come out on top, I just predict this game will be decided by 14 points or less..
