okie1
I think I may try a little turkey hunting. I haven't hunted in the fall before and only a few times in the spring. Anyone got any advice?

spindoc
They typically don't respond as well to calling in the fall. Depends on what you're looking to shoot. Learn a keekee run and I guarantee you that you'll encounter a few flocks if they're in earshot. Take a few hens out and increase your odds in the spring. spindoc
As for the keekee run, google it. Become proficient with a double reed mouth call. I use a call called "Lost Poult" from Cane Creek Calls. Check out their site. Doug Adkins owns it. Great guy and terrific call maker.
spindoc
I'll add to that. His glass and slate calls are the best I've ever had. And I'm ashamed to even tell you how many I've tried. I could start my own store if I'd have kept the packaging.
Content1
Unless you have them dialed in as to where and when you know they will be this time of year, another approach is bust a flock...then position yourself for them to regroup with kee kees and soft yelps. Wait at least 20-30 mins prior to calling and good luck. A friend of mine had a flock dialed in during bow season and knew when and where they would follow single file down a ridge back. He harvested a fall turkey every season from a tree stand no less. Thank God for 75% + let off compound bows! :thumb: Happy hunting and good luck!
