He has about 70 more career rush yards than a guy that used to QB at UK and weighed 300 pounds. I hope he can do great at whatever school he picks, but I think some of you need to be a little more realistic.

Plus arm, plus size, plus athleticism. Heck Petrino an offensive mastermind and QB coach could make him shine. He beat Florida at Florida, there is something there with Towles, he just needs to get the heck out of Lexington.

Seriously though, I haven't seen Stoops throw the ball ever. He may be an inconsistent qb too, I dunno.

Never met the kid; I am sure he is a wonderful person. I've seen him play a number of times, both in HS and at UK. For about 5 years now I have thought he is a bit overrated, though he has shown flashes. But those who think he is LSU or Alabama worthy? Um, no. I would love to be proven wrong, but I do not see Sundays in his future.

Towles will bring some experience and some composure where ever he goes, good luck to Towles.

I'm sorry but if you can't see that Towles was simply set up for failure at UK you weren't watching the same team I was. He had zero trust in his receivers because they hardly ever get open and they drop every other pass, he had roughly a second and a half to throw before he gets hit. Nobody can succeed in this system.

You may very well be right, but its hard to deny that Towles has the uncoachables (size, arm strength, athleticism) most coaches will see that and say I can work with this. Whether it works out is truly a judgment call.

Here is the thing. What type of qbs would those programs want? Tall, athletic, big arm type of qbs correct? So coming out of high school you never know how they will turn out but when you have those intangibles those big schools do want you. So Towles has all those things even the big schools want in high school recruits. Except he also has experience which came in the Sec and also maturity with it being in his fifth year.

 

So yes if one of those top programs don't have someone waiting in the wings that they trust to take over. There is a good chance they may rather take a chance on a guy like Towles then since he does have the things they want and experience.

Towles will get a shot, he has shown flashes of greatness at times, and there will be a coach who thinks they can develop the confidence and consistency! The tangibles are all there! Hope he finds the right fit!

So, Towles wanted the job given to him, didn't want to have to have success to keep it and / or didn't want to have to compete / work for it.

I think when the coach loses confidence in you and goes with a younger guy you see the writing on the wall. There is NO WAY Stoops could have went this off season and through summer practice and then named Patrick the Starter without an injury to Barker...fans would have lost their minds.

I hope that with experience comes performance in the OL and WR units. If so Barker should be ok.
