November 15, 201510 yr Those who continue to blame the QB's amaze me. How can you expect any QB to be successful when the offensive line can't hold a block for more than 3 seconds and receivers who frankly just don't care.

QB play is a part of the problem, but not the biggest problem. Bad o-line, dropped passes, weak play-calling...lots of blame to go around.

You honestly think Towles decision making (post snap) and his pocket presence is enough to take UK to the next level? I like the kid but these are two areas that he is AWFUL in. I do not know if Barker is the answer (I expect he is not) but I do not believe Towles is. The difference is I have seen what Towles is capable of I have not seen what Barker is capable of. The sample size is to small. Why not try something else? News flash this way is not working. On a side note you are correct our O line is awful and our receivers are not doing any favors but the two areas I mentioned are on Towles and no one else, well maybe Dawson to an extent. He puts Pat in bad spots.
November 15, 201510 yr Dawson has been bad. Hard for me to blame Eliot, he is running Stoops defense and I don't think UK is very talented on that side of the ball. Maybe overachieved defensively in a few games this year. Offense is certainly disappointing.
November 15, 201510 yr Defense played solid against a very predictable Vandy offense. UK offense, special teams, and game management were terrible. I'm not a fan of firing a coordinator after one season, but Dawson's system has regressed, with zero consistency from game one. The only positive in special teams was Charles Walker was sure handed catching punts. Stoops either needs to hire a special teams coordinator full time or delegate among his assistants, because he's terrible coaching special teams. If I hear another post game conference where Stoops regrets a decision or made a bad call late in a half I'm going stop watching UK football. For next week, every single offensive position is open. The eleven guys who can do their assignment correctly will play. Miss a block during practice, down the depth chart you go. I can only watch Baker drop passes for so long before he needs to get off the field.
November 15, 201510 yr Play calling isn't as big of an issue as execution is on most series. Dropped passes, bad throws to open receivers, missed blocks will kill the best of offensive game plans. There just seem to be some players that don't care as much or don't want to fight for the play. As far as Towles goes I think he's gun shy or at least get's that way if something goes bad for him. Waiting for the perfect opening to throw the ball too much, which leads to holding the ball too long and pressure.
November 15, 201510 yr Author Thanks to the basketball team at least it wasn't a total loss today to be a UK sports fan.
November 15, 201510 yr If Stoops can't win at UK...whole situation is dire. What situation? Nobody can win there. Just like IU football always sucks, just like Kansas, just like UNC. He's just now realizing his quest was futile.
