November 15, 201510 yr You forgot the stats on the dropped passes. Three dropped passes that hit both hands of the receivers on the first drive, one would have been a TD. Add the dropped passes to Towles totals plus the additional yardage. Towles doesn't get credit for dropped passes. Maybe they should not be held against him as much but that is like giving the reciver the yardage since he was open but Towles there it 6 rows in the bleachers. I think the point he was trying to make was Barker was as effective if not more in 3 series as Towles was the entire rest of the game.
November 15, 201510 yr Those who continue to blame the QB's amaze me. How can you expect any QB to be successful when the offensive line can't hold a block for more than 3 seconds and receivers who frankly just don't care. If I remember correctly, Barker had pressure one time and that was the first play. You make good pre-snap reads and quick decisions to get the ball out fast.
November 15, 201510 yr At the end of the day Stoops is responsible for all phases of this teams performance. Each week I have watched poor game management each week he accepts the blame. At what point is he let go? Right now Joker and Stoops are performing the same on the field of play!
November 15, 201510 yr Won by 7 against an awful Wake Forest team. Won by 1 point against a 3-7 FCS team. Beat a bad FIU team. They have a good win against WKU and beat 3 bad teams. They're almost exactly UK. I've thought for a long time that UK and IU should be playing each other in football. Could be a very competitive series.
November 15, 201510 yr While I agree that the sample size is still to small to make any definite conclusions, I still do not understand how anyone who watched the game yesterday could truly believe that Towles gives the offense a better chance to succeed than Barker does. When Barker came into the game yesterday, he made the offense look like a completely different unit. Like Clyde said, the interception is not something you want, but that's bound to happen when you have played so few snaps. Drew looked more comfortable, more decisive, and more in control of the offense in his first true meaningful game action than Towles really ever has. At this point in the season, I think you turn the team over to Drew and see what he can do. He will do no worse and has much more upside than Pat has at this point.
November 15, 201510 yr What about the pass Conrad caught? I must have missed the one pass. It worked, why didn't they throw him more passes?
November 15, 201510 yr A very soft brand of football outside of the Brooks Era for the last 20 years or so, and the 02 year under Morris.
November 15, 201510 yr I must have missed the one pass. It worked, why didn't they throw him more passes? Conrad is the most over rated football player on the offense, IMO. He more often than not gets blown up when he tries to block. Being a true freshman has a lot to do with it though. Look at the QB sneak at the goal line and see who gets destroyed...Conrad, the DE crosses his face and gets all the way to Towles and hammers him, PT who was trying to go over the right guard had no chance.

The whole team is over rated. The only one that I would want on my team is Stamps. I don't know how many plays Elam was in for, but he had 0 tackles. That keeps his yearly total at 2. :lol2:

November 15, 201510 yr Why is there no focus on getting "clowned" by a Pee Wee football "hidden WR" trick play coming out of a timeout? That is completely coaching. In a game with weak offenses on both sides of the ball, a freebie TD at the end of a half was huge. Talk about lack of control on the sidelines. Of course Stoops was screamin' and hollerin' at the refs after the play. Presumably a natural reaction for him. The replays clearly showed the WR coming inside the #s and then going back to the sidelines. Not surprised that smart Vandy kids knew how to comply with the rules. How 'bout taking some of that same energy and getting in your DCoordinator's face about letting that happen? Clown show bro.
November 15, 201510 yr The trick play would have worked on Alabama and they have a pretty good defense and defensive coordinator. Well executed by the 'Dores! The UK football season is in a downward spiral. This was an important year to gain a little forward momentum. Not good.
November 15, 201510 yr Barker may as well transfer as the coaches obviously are not going to give him a chance until Towles graduates. I really feel bad for the kid. He was 5-8 passing with one TD and an interception. The interception was a bad read on his part. But at the same time he hasn't had enough snaps to ever get settled in. So what do the coaches do, bench him in favor of the qb that was 5-17 and and also had an int. Barker throws a great ball, but also has a quick release, and knows when to get out of the pocket and run. A quick release and knowing when to run is a must for UK until the oline gets better. Towles seems incapable of doing either.
November 15, 201510 yr Cats have totally imploded for the second year in a row. Special teams are the worst ever. Defense played well but Vandy has a very below par offense. QBs once again were awful. They squeezed by EKU as well. Gotta beat Louisville or the season will be deemed a disaster- again.
