Scott County 54 Highlands 28

When your defense allows 54 points, probably wouldn't have made much difference, IMO.

The defense gave up 54 with a running clock, something that should never happen.

Give Highlands a break. You can't be absolutely dominant every year. every great program has a down year, even if it is a rare occurrence. HHS has scheduled tough and will take their lumps for it when playing 6A powerhouses. New Cath always schedules tough, playing bigger and better schools. Their record generally doesn't look like a dominant team from year to year, but they are always prepared come district/playoff time. Let's see how HHS fares in their district and playoffs before we put a final label on this season. By the way, I'm neither a HHS or NCC supporter. Just calling it like I see it.

I have not seen Highlands yet, but I predict Highlands beats Ryle if Hergott and Daugherty are healthy.

Ryle is legit with their passing game. England can eat the clock. It will be a tough game for sure.

Mostly agree but if your D1 QB can help put drives together it keeps the D off of the field and , hopefully, puts points on the board.

Just my opinion, wouldn't have made much difference at all. Gosney did a fine job. He missed some open guys, BUT I think he would have had more completions had the receivers routes been more precise. Seems like they were taking bad angles on posts and flags...cutting them off too much. Also, you have to credit SC with more than a couple of the inccompletes as they disconnected the ball for the HHS recover with some mighty blows.

Hergott may have committed to a D1 school, but he hasn't played like a D1 QB yet. So I don't think he does any better than Gosney and he seemed a little more interception prone than Gosney, so it may have been worse. That not a knock on him. He just hasn't had a D1 level start to the season yet. Hopefully it all comes together like a "master plan" by playoff time. It's 10 scrimmages til you get to the playoffs and the Birds have played all 6a teams so far. One average, one below average and one VERY GOOD!

I'm not giving up on them. I've seen too many miracles come out of that locker room. And for anyone to doubt Weinrich is ridiculous. You have to have the horses. He co-head coached for years with Dale and they are still close. It's his team, but if you don't think he's using his "resources" for solutions, you're crazy. Dale still lives in Ft Thomas!!

They are legit in NKy. But I'm not sure how far that goes this year.

Certainly a weird year. It is hard to gauge.

The points scored against the Birds the last two years are the biggest concern for me. How much would it help having Coach Weinrich calling the defense like he's done the past 15 yrs. Sometimes it's the Jimmy's and Joe's and sometimes it's how you use them. I'm not real sure what the problem is but this defense doesn't resemble a typical HHS defense.

Why did Coach W move from calling the defense to calling the offense anyway? You just don't fix what ain't broke!

Keep your head up Birds and work hard to improve. This Highlands fan, along with many others, still supports you.

The bottom line for this season are the games against CovCath. HHS is going to struggle the next three weeks. Grant, Dixie and Boone are games that HHS should win. CovCath game 1 determines ultimate seed and location of game 2 if both teams advance. The winner of that game is already in state quarters.

Younger kids are going to need to grow up in a hurry. Baptism by fire . No Hergott, no Cain, no Dressman, no Dougherty = No chance. Doesn't matter who is coaching and which side of the ball they coach.

Coach W was there beside Dale every year except Dale's first. So much of Dale's success was because of Weinrich. May coach W needs a coach W on his staff but just doesn't have one yet. Just a thought.

Cant help it guy's but I have to say anyone who would do that to another team just shows a compleat lack of class

I very seriously doubt he is calling Dale.

I agree 100%, sometimes there is a downturn in talent, poor work ethic, since of entitlement that comes from seeing the classes before them seemingly win so easily or various other things that are hard for the coach to control.

Weinrich's D was has dominant over the last 15 years as Dale's much ballyhooed offense was, and doing it with the kids that Dale didn't want/need for his offense.

Highlands will be fine, just maybe not up to their past standards this season.

Do what?
