Hate the fact that CCH may beat HHS this year and its their first year with a new HC. It will look bad on Dave and it shouldn't. He was a good coach but was going up against those dominant teams. Put his teams in any other districts over the state and they would have made some good runs.

Huh? Are you assuming that CovCath will beat FTH? That's a toss up right now. CovCath is getting drilled once again this weekend. Neither team is playing good defense.

That district will get decided by who learns to tackle first.

Tackling is not the problem at HHS and I will leave it at that. First score was a nice run where Scott County back ran through a tackle, the others had zero to do with tackling if you know what I mean.

My bad. I assumed it was tackling based on the score. What has changed with the scheme and how long till it begins to gel or you go back to what was working>

Coach W was there beside Dale every year except Dale's first. So much of Dale's success was because of Weinrich. May coach W needs a coach W on his staff but just doesn't have one yet. Just a thought.

Then thats on him, hes in control of the staff.

Am I crazy in saying the CovCath game might decide a .500 season?

No.

Was there a running clock in this game?

Congrats to Scott County, and keep your heads up 'Birds!!!

I dont think they end up at .500.

Running clock midway through 2nd qtr.

Birds couldn't catch anybody to miss a tackle. The SC speed was phenomenal and they have a very good soph QB who also can blaze. It seemed once they got to the edge they turned on the afterburners.

There are just not enough marquis players this year. I don't know how bad Hergott's injury is but it wouldn't have mattered if he played last night. As far as a difference in the score. Now it may affect the way his teammates and some of the Bird faithful view his toughness in thag position. Just saying.

I looked it up. The last time HHS had a losing season in football was 1955...1955!!!!! That has to be one of the longest "winning season" streaks in the country (60 years). There is a very real chance that streak ends this season.

Let's face it guys (and Cat)...Hoge's play masked a lot of issues last year with HHS. The defense struggled in most games against solid competition. It is again and there is nobody on offense like Hoge to overcome it.

score 100pts.

The points scored against the Birds the last two years are the biggest concern for me. How much would it help having Coach Weinrich calling the defense like he's done the past 15 yrs. Sometimes it's the Jimmy's and Joe's and sometimes it's how you use them. I'm not real sure what the problem is but this defense doesn't resemble a typical HHS defense.

They look pretty similar. The issue is that the offense isn't building a big lead where the opposing offense has to be 1 dimensional. The same natural running channels are there based on the innate issues of the 3-4. I didn't see last night's game. Is Scott County still running out of a version of the wing-t?

It was going to take a couple of beat downs for HHS staff to go away from a system and a philosophy that has been the trademark of an unprecedented run of success.

Those beat downs have now happened.

My crystal ball envisions changes. Utmost confidence in the coaching staff to maximize potential of this roster. Time will tell.

There has to be some changes. I'm not sure what though.
