Scott County 54 Highlands 28

After 4 straight state titles, Dale told numerous people(parents) that HHS would have 4 more. Had he won in 2014, he would have stayed, knowing that he would have another... But since they lost, he decided to retire, knowing full and well he was still on the top of the mountain of HS football coaching. And thus allowing his new head coach and long time friend, enjoy a state title, "before the bottom falls out." HHS has(had) one of the best football feeder programs around...he had known for some time of what was "not" coming. Wells go dry sometimes...

Nothing about being "a cowards way out" Simply leaving when still on top. Michael Jordan could have played many more years, why didn't he? Stupid question I know, but so is the "Dale" question. Birds will be lucky to be a .500 team for some years to come.(but I don't know how weak the competition will become?)

Nice first post. You know an awful lot about Highlands football. I'm surprised you haven't found your way to this forum earlier.

Did Dale decide to retire after the 2013 season?

My bad. I assumed it was tackling based on the score. What has changed with the scheme and how long till it begins to gel or you go back to what was working>

You just asked the million dollar question. Think there may be some changes in the works, just not sure exactly what they will be.

Scott Co was too much no matter who played for HHS. The game plan of putting pressure on the sophomore QB did not work out too well. No chance of catching the RB's of Scott Co. HHS was over matched and could easily lose the next two games against Ryle and SK.

I can think of a few HHS teams that would beat any SC team. This year SC won. Good for them. Say no matter who HHS has SC would win is redonk. Pat Towles played for HHS not to long ago. Just a down year... get your licks in on the birds this year while you can KY.

Pulaski County just isnt that good :idunno:

Highlands is having some serious growing pains this year... I still think they can find who they are.... do they play a few guys both ways (beal & heoble)? Do they change the game plan? something will get done and they will get better. Pulaski did a better job against SC that's for sure. I hope Pulaski buys in to all the "Highlands Sucks this year" stuff and get a little too confident for that match up. if HHS makes it by Dixie/Cov Cath in the region Pulaski would have to come up to NKY and beat a late season bird team... If they do that then they deserve it.

Are you stating this as a fact you know or just a theory you are putting out there? If fact, you are dead wrong. Others were aware of Dale's intention to step down as football coach before the playoffs in 2013, regardless of result.

The reality is that SC has built a really good program and FTH got beat by a bigger, better team. Nothing more than that.

And there we have it. I think some are frustrated by the first-half running clock, but it is what it is.

I was lucky enough to see this game. An if beal is number 27. That kid hustled his tail off! Played extremely hard. But he didn't have much help. Good game 27!!

Let's not toot Patrick towles horn. Uk blew a 23 point lead yesterday. He's not all that. Please people. Let's not live completely in the past

Good lord

That is a great point, do these two early losses free the coaches up to change up what Highlands does to fit their talent. If they had tried to change up offense or defense from what the fans are used to seeing before they got beat the fans would be saying that changing things are why they got beat.

These two losses especially this one may give Weinrich complete freedom to do what ever he wants without worrying that if it doesn't work the fans will be out for his head. He's played three games trying to do it the old ways, now maybe he can try something a little different to better fit his talent.

Last year he ran an offense nothing like the offenses Mueller ran.

Last year they had talent, this year they dont.

Explain that

I have a question about Scott County. When they divide the high school in two in the next few years what football class will the resulting schools likely play in?

My understanding is that with the large MS classes they have that will be coming in at that time, it will be a 5A and 4A schools if they do a true split (similar to Shelby Co and Collins.) However Ive heard that they might keep Scott Co as a 6A school, and the other will be a small 4A.
