Pure Prospects Top 33 2017 Class

Again, I think you need multiple contributors that have proven basketball knowledge that have seen these kids play more than once. Most of the scouting services may watch these kids 1 or more times then rank them accordingly. Not exactly sure who runs some of these scouting services, I would like to see some of their credentials when it comes to evaluating talent.

For those not familiar with Nextuprecruits...dude is extremely connected around the state and region in general. His list is likely the most accurate as far as kids he has seen. His showcase alone had over 100 of the top players in the state from 16, '17, and '18 with some '19 kids. Not many kids he hasn't seen in person around KY.

Another big thing with NUR is he is a national approved scouting service that is used by college coaches.

How tall is Shorty Cager? That is a great name.

I will agree that he's the most legit of the group of guys from KY that are trying to do this type of thing. But, like I asked about the other guy, does anyone know his background as it relates to the game of basketball? What was his background prior to becoming a basketball expert?

I watched him this summer and would guess he's about 5'7" or 5'8".

That particular lost is the Next Up Recruits list but I imagine they only list the kids they have seen as well. That seems to be status quo amongst all the people ranking kids these days. Can't rank what you don't see.

I agree which leads to this observation... At times, the decisions a parent/coach/guardian makes with a young player is driven to some degree by providing as much exposure as possible to be seen if that is important to them. Exposure costs time and money, but if people or even the players are desperate about being ranked it requires being in the places to insure you are seen.

Subtle things come into the "ranking" game which make the list very arbitrary in nature.

Patfan2015 Austin combs will struggle to be the best player on kcc team let alone the 14th region. He will be lucky to be in the top 10 in the 14th. Anthony Nelson is the best player in the 14th and it's not even close. He is arguably a top 5 player in the state. He already has multiple D1 offers as a junior, big time talet.

I am probably stupid but if someone could tell me how to post a video I have several of him last season and over the summer if anyone is interested.

Do you have a link to the video?

I think this is a more accurate list:

2017

I'm really glad to see Cole Hegyi on this list. I think he's much better than people know. Maybe it is because the 2017 class is so strong around Kentucky? But some college is going to get a serious player when they recruit him. Great demeanor, works really hard. Aggressive on the boards, uses his body great.

Jaylen Sebree is visiting IU today.

I assume writer has not seen 6'3 ultra athlete Jekobi Wells of Paris either.

Sebree will explode at the next level. I think his best basketball is still ahead of him if he works and stays humble.

You just don't know what you are talking about!!! Austin Combs is the best player in the region, with Conner Hoskins being a close second. Nobody knows who Anthony Nelson is, I'm sure he is an ineligible player, playing for a team on probation. What D1 teams have offered him? Prove it! Scan his offer's and put them on this board, then I'll believe it!
