Tavin Lovan is now the all-time leading scorer for Franklin-Simpson.

I still think Tavin is the best HIGH SCHOOL player in the state for 2017. Sebree probably projects to the next level better but Lovan does it all at both ends.

I'll take David Sloan over both. He's a killer at both ends, and he's played against much better competition than Lovan or Sebree has.

I love Day Day...really good player at both ends but an even better kid off the court.

BUT...against elite competition over the summer, the above statement simply isn't true. Both Sloan and Lovan played in the EYBL.

Sloan- 2.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg

Lovan- 8.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg

And you do realize Tavin is averaging 27 and 11 a game as a 6'2 guard, right? Tavin can't help the schedule that his coach put together. But the kid has absolutely done what a dominant player should do against players he is better than.

Tavin also doesn't have the luxury of playing along side what is probably going to be KY Mr Basketball this year. Not saying Sloan wouldn't put up the same numbers, but Tavin doesn't have nearly as much help as Sloan does so teams are keying to stop him every game and he is still producing.

Dylan James will be the captin for Mercer next year and I expect that he will probably be top 5 in the state in scoring average. If he can add some strength, his stock will rise. I can't wait to see if his 6'8" 7th grade little brother can develope enough to help the varsity team next year! The James boys both have room to grow as players. Glad they are doing it at Mercer
