I agree, they are two different players. McNeil is almost 6-4 190lbs (guard). Shoots lights out from the arc. Rebounds extremely well. His size will translate nicely to the college game. CVH is also a solid player at 6-0 175lbs, his strongest asset I think is his mental toughness. He is a competitor, and has a solid resume the last two years at CCH including 2014 state champs. CCH also has another very good player in Andy Flood. At times Flood gets overshadowed by CVH and doesn't get quite as much credit as he deserves. He has good size, shoots well, plays really good defense. Heard he put up 42pts in a summer scrimmage game (against a pretty good team) when CVH was out with an injury. In my opinion Sean McNeil will be the highest recruited player in the class of 2017 from the 9th region. Heard he already has some very nice D1 programs interested in him. But interest and offers are two different things.

I like that we have people in the state providing exposure for the kids and for scouting services player rankings are as natural as team rankings are for sport publications. I just do not think it is good for player development if the player themselves has desperate concerns over their rank. The players who really make it in their sport of choice are those whose development is marked by constant striving for excellence.

If a player feels snubbed, remember the old horse racing adage that a horse never runs so fast as when he has others horses to catch up.

 

Agree totally. I'll also add that these rankings are always fun to follow as kids rise up and down these lists all of the time. I follow the 2018 listing closer than the other years and I used to follow the 2012 listings super close. The lists change so much over time and it is evident which kids truly work on their craft the most. The ones who work the most at their craft eventually get the exposure they desire.

Oh to put that old NK Wildcats-Tarheels-KY Select team back together with CVH, Mcneil, Ohmer, Hendrix, Hawkins. Crawford played a few games with them before being called up to high school ball as a 7th grader. 3 AAU state championships, 1 runner-up and 3 top ten national finishes. Put a big that can rebound and defend the post and you have a another solid team.

Glad someone likes this young man. He is a great kid and can score everywhere on the floor.

If Sean ends up with a better offer than DePaul I will be shocked. I love his game, but even the bottom of the Big East is big boy basketball. Kid has a great stroke, is really strong, has a great frame, and appears to really understand the game. Still, that is a high offer to get to and Cole has that one in hand already (and also is likely to have more to come, as will Sean).

Tray is a really good player. No doubt about that.

Early years it was Neff and Lafrange then Ross, Angel and Drees. Neff was more of a wing on those older teams. Great kids doing great things in Football, some still hoop I think. Tanner Morgan, Cameron Racke and Spencer Hemmerich also on those teams.

In his recruiting thread someone has him at 6'2" 180? At the end of the school year last year.

Nice list indeed. One thing is consistent most of these boys lead their perspective teams in football and/or basketball. A talented group!!

That particular lost is the Next Up Recruits list but I imagine they only list the kids they have seen as well. That seems to be status quo amongst all the people ranking kids these days. Can't rank what you don't see.
