August 5, 201511 yr Rowan County clerk sues Ky. governor over gay marriage, citing religious freedom | Politics and Government | Kentucky.com Lawsuits abound!
August 5, 201511 yr Her argument is interesting: "The Commonwealth of Kentucky, acting through Governor Beshear, has deprived Davis of her religious-conscience rights guaranteed by the United States and Kentucky constitutions and laws, by insisting that Davis issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples contrary to her conscience, based on her sincerely held religious beliefs," Davis' lawsuit says. Davis seeks protection from "Kentucky's marriage policies" given her rights under the state's religious-freedom law, passed in 2013 over Beshear's veto. The law protects "sincerely held religious beliefs" from infringement unless there is "a compelling governmental interest." Hate to point this out but wouldn't the compelling government interest be the issuing of licenses that the state has monopoly over? :idunno:
August 5, 201511 yr If she is still refusing to issue marriage licenses I think she should be fired immediately and let her file all the lawsuits she wants to file.
August 5, 201511 yr Gay marriage goes against her "sincerely held religious beliefs", but her FOUR divorces do not??
August 5, 201511 yr If she is still refusing to issue marriage licenses I think she should be fired immediately and let her file all the lawsuits she wants to file. Difficult to fire an elected official. There a million loopholes to jump through. She has been convicted of no crime.
August 5, 201511 yr Gay marriage goes against her "sincerely held religious beliefs", but her FOUR divorces do not?? Divorces aren't the end of humanity
August 5, 201511 yr Divorces aren't the end of humanity I know. I'm a divorcee. I'm just saying that you can't say one is against your biblical beliefs of marriage and the other is not.
August 5, 201511 yr Divorces aren't the end of humanity True. However, the bible clearly outlines divorce and it's protocol according to scripture. If, in fact, she's been divorced that many times, seems a bit hypocritical to pick and choose doesn't it? Either she widowed 4 times or she gleans what she chooses from the Word.

Maybe she was cheated on 4 times and had every Biblical right to divorce.
August 6, 201511 yr Maybe she was cheated on 4 times and had every Biblical right to divorce. Or maybe she is just a hypocrite.
August 6, 201511 yr Isn't the process still that a judge has to grant you permission to sue the Commonwealth, based on legal facts available? if so, please have the AG give me a call.....I have a question or two.
August 6, 201511 yr Or maybe she is just a hypocrite. That's possible. I don't know her personally so I can't say either way. One can only hope that she goes to the capital building and has friends record her while she waits for justice.
