August 15, 201511 yr Dont the people that are trying to get the license realized all they have to do is go to another county and get it. You can get one in any KY county, no matter where you live. Some folks aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. :lol2:
August 15, 201511 yr And I'm sorry, but for someone like the Clerk of Rowan Co. to claim she's being discriminated against just rings hollow to me, considering the mess of 5,683,657 different Christian sects have been able to use their religion to keep others under their thumb for decades in this country. Under that thumb includes Catholics, for you NoKy and L'ville folks who are wanting to forget things. Nothing about ultra-conservative judge David Bunning's ruling is keeping her from practicing her religion every darned night she chooses to go to church. Anybody with a brain knew this was eventually coming, from the SC or Congress or otherwise, and it's not gay people's fault, nor the federal government's fault, that she wanted to keep her head in some wacky patch of sand that tells her queers aren't entitled to the same rights as her, and that she'd never have to deal with something so atrocious when she took that oath of office. no bashing my high school classmate.
August 15, 201511 yr no bashing my high school classmate. On the contrary. That's pretty much a badge of honor.
August 15, 201511 yr Some folks aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. :lol2: All about the publicity and attention.
August 15, 201511 yr All about the publicity and attention. In part I agree with you. If they truly wanted to get a marriage license, 20 minutes in any directions they are being given out like candy.

Which is ok if that's what they want to do but I'm not buying the tears and heartache of being denied the only thing they've ever wanted...when they can just drive 10 minutes to Olive Hill or Owingsville.
August 15, 201511 yr Why should people have to drive to another county?! The law is the law and if this lady can't follow the law, she should move aside and let someone do the requirements of the job. That's like telling Rosa Parks to just call a cab if she can't find a seat on the bus.
August 15, 201511 yr So it's ok to practice civil disobedience if you want to block streets and disrupt entire cities over certain beliefs (or opinions if you will), but not ok to practice the same, as an individual, just because she is an elected official ? Someone unwind that for me please…I'll patiently await the response

August 15, 201511 yr Elected officials took an oath to uphold the law. She is upholding the law, until the law is updated, she is actually doing her job.

I applaud her for her convictions, (though it obviously isn't a conviction she holds in multiple marriages), but in the same vein her convictions come with a price she seems unwilling to pay. A similar officer in Miss. Resigned out of the same conviction. Honorable. Like you, I will await a response.
August 15, 201511 yr She is upholding the law, until the law is updated, she is actually doing her job. I would respectfully disagree. The courts will decide and once more the tax payers will foot the bill. Just like they are for a Clerk now.

You dont know who they are.
