How is it that Caitlin Jenner receives the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs awards?

Not to threadjack, but this is a really good opportunity for Christians to show that we love all people, regardless of their personal beliefs. While the degree of bravery can be debated, it is important to remember that we are all humans and deserve love.

Christians can show their love for someone, while still pointing out that what an individual is doing is wrong. I have always believed that statements like this are used when there is no defense to your support for a particular situation.

I didn't skip it solely because of that, but had the award went to someone such as Lauren Hill or Leah Still, I would've made a point to catch it. As it was, I did see Devon Still's speech. Powerful stuff.

Bingo!!! Lauren Hill was the first person I thought of! Not a wealthy narcissistic Olympian who was pushed out of the spotlight by his stepdaughters, and had to find a way back in the spotlight.

Finished watching a movie. I am getting old...I have less and less interest in pop culture.

Watched some of the ESPYs bit when that came on I changed the channel.

I usually tune in and watch the majority of it. But I decided to make a point to not watch any of it. Not like ESPN missed me though lol.

ESPYs are garbage. I did watch the replay of Devin Stills speech which was awesome.

So ESPY related...Ronda Rousey and Jenn Sterger won the internet last night. Using the ESPYs to throw major shade at Money Mayweather and Brett Favre respectively. :lol2:

While I am on board with Jenner's decision to come out as transgender, you are fooling yourself if you do not think it was calculated by the Jenner team and ABC/ESPN to be awarded at the ESPYs before the transgender reveal. Too coincidental that Jenner reveals herself to Diane Sawyer with ABC, and in the immediate aftermath was announced she would be given the courage award... on ABC. Fine by me for both parties, but I can't hammer people for saying this is all a publicity stunt.

I didn't watch a second of the Espy's....much like the previous 10 or 12 years. I remember watching some of it the first few years it was on in the mid 90's. There are a bunch of things I'd much rather do.

The ESPYs have become the opening monologue (which I enjoy), only a handful of awards given, and 50% "feel good" presentations. The award portions I hate because I despise fan voting. LeBron was given best Championship performance, and USA women were given team of the year. LeBron was even shocked he won the award and didn't come across as someone who felt he deserved it. Of those nominated, he should have come in last.
