This game does not worry me at all. Tyler Ulis will be the straw that stirs the Blue Storm in this one. Really have not seen anyone effectively trap the kid all year. UK has been taking very good care of the orange lately and I fully expect UK to impose their will from the 14:00 minute mark of the second half. UK just to powerful and way to many weapons for WVU players to handle. The tanks will just keep comin' over the hill. CATS by 17.

Agree on Ulis. I've never seen him flustered.

I can't see any scenario where WVU trying to trap and run works out well for them. UC was able to hang around by making it a grinding, low possession game. Up the number of possessions, and up the chance UK blows your doors off eventually with a run much larger than the 10-0 spurt last Saturday.

 

I just don't see Andrew or Ulis unraveling under the pressure. Sure they will have a few more turnovers than normal, but i can't imagine it getting up near 20 like WVU wants...

Alex Poythress will travel with the team to Cleveland

 

 

The UK bench was missing one very important person this past weekend: Alex Poythress. Last night on his call-in show, John Calipari said Alex went back to Clarksville for spring break, giving up his seat on the bench to one of the walk-ons.

 

“He just went home for spring break. He’ll be traveling with us to Cleveland,” Cal said. “We can only have so many guys on the bench, so he wanted Tod, Brian, Sam, and EJ all to be able to be on the bench.”

 

Cal said that Tod will sit in the stands this week like he did during the SEC Tournament, but at least he’ll be able to tell his kids one day he played in the Tournament during UK’s historic season.

 

“As you’ve noticed, I made sure Tod, Sam, Brian and EJ all got in that first game, so now they were all in the NCAA Tournament game and a part of this run we made.”

 

Marcus Lee told me last week that Alex was focusing on his rehab during spring break, and Cal said last night that Alex’s rehab is going “great.” The bench just didn’t feel the same without him.

Cal is 1-8 all-time vs Higgins with 2011 win being the only one. I have a question shouldn't the top of the bracket play the early game? The game again won't tip til 10 or after I guess they want the Cats in primetime.
