I think that WVU and Huggins will go to a half court game in his 1-3-1 early. Cats will have to make outside shots.

 

If they play 1-3-1, Lyles will have 20+.

They are not anywhere close to as good defensively, and they actually shoot a worse % from the floor than UC.

 

The only way WV wins this game is if they force 20+ TOs and the Cats are ice cold from the perimeter.

 

Also, WV commits more fouls than any team in the nation. Kentucky could end up shooting 50 FTs in this one.

 

UC is better than WVU...

GT, do you agree that if WVU tries to press, chances are good it's a long night for them?

Most of the points I would make have already been stated by others. West Virginia has to turn the Cats over. WVU will do the same thing UC did in the half court offense - pound the offensive boards for second chance baskets. I think UK needs to attack their press over the top and go for easy baskets. More passing and less dribbling is the way to beat West Virginia's constant pressure.

 

If UK and WVU play a 5 game series, I think UK wins 3 by 20 or more points, one game will be close in UK's favor and West Virginia would win one. Hopefully UK handles the pressure and the moment and that one WVU win does not happen this Thursday

UK getting the ball to Towns in the post will be key. If they get impatient and settle for jumpers, and are not hitting them, the dream season may end. Towns needs to stay out of foul trouble, although I have a bad feeling he won't.

Yes. And that is what they will do...

The more I think about it, I think UK runs WV out of the gym. WV won't be able to stop any of the big men, and against UC, UK has shown its able to attack the zone defense fairly well inside.

Also the only way teams can beat UK is to slow the ball down and play a half court game while making open looks. WV doesn't want to and isn't capable of doing it

If UK holds WVU to a limited amount of offensive rebounds, this game is an 18 point game with under a minute to play. Just how I see it.

Me too. He has to play smart, and try not give the refs any reason to call a foul;. IMO he is an important piece of the puzzle we need to win.
