Kids deserve the opportunity to play for titles on a level playing field. I believe that opportunity would help retention at a lot of the 6A schools. In some states, for example PA, private and public schools play for separate titles. Forcing publics to compete with the likes of T and X is just flat out unreasonable. KHSAA acknowledges this by rotating the regional brackets every year so the same district does not get routed in the first round every year. Yes I do believe its better, those people can choose to go there and they pay good money to do so, basically they have the belief that they deserve better than the public school can provide so let them make that choice, these schools also have enrollment requirments and can choose their own size.

Would Male and Manual be part of that group of sixteen? Because if so they'll just replace St. X/Trinity as dominant title winners.

Can public schools offer any financial aid assistance for tuition students? Is there a PSAS to calculate assistance to families that would like to send their kids to school in a different school district? Or work study money for odd jobs like sweeping floors that goes towards paying down tuition?

You are right, but that would probably never happen. I dislike charter schools because I do not believe most of the people that start them have kids best interests in mind. They are usually about money.

How about Catholic schools accept anyone that applies?

It's already been mentioned, not enough private schools. On top of that are you saying that it is more fair for DeSales to have to play Trinity for a title than SK playing Trinity? The disparity between SK and DeSales is likely larger than the disparity between SK and Trinity enrollment wise.

If the public schools weren't so dead set on immutable borders and a desire to keep schools small instead of just upping the nimber of teachers they would be better served to just let the money follow the student to any public school this wouldn't be such a big deal.

 

Any student should have the right to attend any public school of their choosing with the money following them.

Problem is that you have to have both systems agree to that. Locally the county system is no longer going to allow their students to attend the Ind. City School. In the past around 200 students from K-12 attended the city schools while living in the county, this will no longer be allowed by the county school system.

Are you sure? A school can select what/which out-of-district students it takes. And, I know several schools that freely dismiss students who underachieve, if they live out of district.
